Euler's Number - e
The number e is natural or Euler's number
(transcendental and irrational) which is the constant
2.71828, approximately. It is used to model continuous
exponential growth for things such as population and
bacteria growth, radioactive decay and stock prices.
The number e represents an exponential function
when calculating its value at different powers.
Exponential Decay of
Radioisotope Carbon-14
for Carbon Dating
The exponential decay has
constant half-life which
represents the time taken
by the radioactive isotope
to be reduced/decayed by
half. This is used
extensively by scientists for
carbon dating to
determine the ages of
different objects
discovered etc.
Carbon-Dating
This innovative process was discovered by Willard Libby in
1946. He found that through this method we could find the
objective age estimations for carbon-based objects that
originated from living organisms.
