BACKGROUND AND RATIONALE

Based on the Bible passage from the Gospel of Luke 2:10-14, it is a time for great joy, a reason to
celebrate. Christmas has become such a big commercial enterprise that the baby Jesus is often forgotten
amid all the Santa Claus, the Grinch, the Disney characters that have become the face of this season.
One must not forget that the reason we celebrate Christmas is because “God loved the world so much that
he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”
This is the good news that we were a given thousands of years ago, for all people, and still holds true up
to this time.

This Cantata’s purpose, therefore, is to bring joy and hope to everyone and to encourage optimism,
inspiration and spread holiday cheer in anticipation of a joyous end of the year through music performed
by the students and teachers of Middle and Junior High School.

OBJECIVES OF THE STUDY

a. Sing and listen to christmas songs that bring us together and connect us in groups of shared
experience and feelings.
b. Spread the Christmas spirit through songs and pantomime and have something for
families to come and enjoy this festive season.
