Brief Introduction
LA CONSOLACION UNIVERSITY PHILIPPINES
Bulihan, City of Malolos, Bulacan 3000
Nielson (2020) has reported that working remotely was merely an extra office perk
before the pandemic. However, after the COVID-19 outbreak, 66% of the employees
surveyed have been forced into full-time remote work. Telecommuting has become a
necessity to keep companies rolling. Owing to rapid advancements in technology, it is
now possible to serve business interests with the internet's power. However, Neeley
(2020) has stressed that adopting telecommuting at a large scale for any organization
will be a tough transition during a crisis
The outcomes of this model can be both positive as well as negative. Positive impacts
include a reduction in traveling time to the office, cost savings, and also childcare (if the
employee is a parent). Whereas the negative impacts include lack of proper
communication among co-workers, health issues, and lack of proper face-to-face
support. Therefore, the present study has been undertaken to examine the impacts of
working from home (WFH) during the COVID-19 pandemic regarding challenges, and
perceived productivity
The outbreak of COVID-19 has changed the perception towards work. Therefore, it has
also drastically changed how and where the work is being done. This has left the
employees to suddenly adapt to a new model of work with or without any prior
preparation. However, work from home has not been a piece of cake. Some face
problems because of lack of experience, lack of space at home created problems for
some, while inappropriate working conditions led to health issues for others. Hence it is
important to identify the impact and productivity levels of employees towards working
from home. The opinion of employees on working from home and the impacts it had
created plays a vital role in their productivity as well as helping the employers to analyze
where they lack.
The demographic profile of the respondents such as gender, age, work arrangements,
number of works and number of children may include in the to determine if there is
impact
on employee productivity.
Since the study was an online study, participants with access to the internet could
possibly participate in the study. The sample selected from the participants were working
from home either full time or skeletal in NCR Plus. The socio-demographic variables
included age, gender, marital status, number of children and work arrangements at
workplace was collected.
The research analysis starts by presenting the frequency and length of working remotely
from home, identifying the significant challenges and benefits experienced while
working remotely. The reliability and validity of the scales used were measured then the
Pearson correlation coefficient was calculated; to end up by conducting simple regression
analysis using JASP software version 14.
