Q) Define Fourier series? How Fourier series can be related to
electrical/electronics ?

 Fourier series
A Fourier series is an expansion of a periodic function f(x) in terms of an
infinite sum of sines and cosines. Fourier series make use of the orthogonality
relationships of the sine and cosine functions. The computation and study of
Fourier series is known as harmonic analysis and is extremely useful as a way to
break up an arbitrary periodic function into a set of simple terms that can be
plugged in, solved individually, and then recombined to obtain the solution to
the original problem or an approximation to it to whatever accuracy is desired
or practical [1].
 Fourier in Electrical Engineering:
The knowledge of Fourier Series is essential to understand some very useful
concepts in Electrical Engineering. Fourier Series is very useful for circuit
analysis, electronics, signal processing etc. The study of Fourier Series is the
backbone of Harmonic analysis. We know that harmonic analysis is used for
filter design, noise and signal analysis. etc. Harmonic analysis is also very
important in power system studies. In power network, harmonics are mainly
generated by non-linear elements and switching equipment [2].
