Urjit Patel Vice President Asian Former Governor of the Reserve Bank of
Infrastructure India (RBI), Urjit Patel is appointed as a
Investment Bank Vice President of the Asian Infrastructure
(AIIB) Investment Bank (AIIB) for a three-year
tenure (2022-2025) starting from 1st
February. Urjit Patel will succeed previous
Vice President D J Pandian.
He will be one of the five Vice Presidents of
the AIIB, which is headed by the President
and Chair of the Board of Directors Jin
Liqun (China).
Dr V Anantha Chief Economic Ministry of Finance Union government appointed Dr V Anantha
Nageswaran Advisor (CEA) (India) Nageswaran as the Chief Economic Advisor
(CEA) for the Ministry of Finance. He will
succeed K V Subramanian who resigned in

Kovacevski a new coalition government, with Dimitar
Kovacevski, leader of the Social Democratic
Union of Macedonia (SDSM), elected as the
new prime minister.The new coalition

Roberta Metsola President European Union Roberta Metsola from Malta was elected as

Nongthombam (N) Chief Minister Manipur Nongthombam (N) Biren Singh, sworn in as the
Biren Singh Chief Minister (CM) of Manipur for the second
consecutive term. The oath of office was
administered by Manipur Governor La Ganesan

12th CM of Manipur(Excluding Repetition).
N Biren Singh was elected from the Heingang
seat for the record fifth time, in the recently
concluded 12th Manipur assembly elections. BJP

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved the extension of Rajeev Ahuja ‘s term as interim
Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of RBL Bank for another three months w.e.f
from 25 March, 2022 or till the appointment of a regular MD & CEO, whichever is earlier. Rajeev Ahuja
was previously appointed as an interim MD & CEO of the bank for a period of three months w.e.f from
25th December 2021, after the previous MD & CEO, Vishwavir Ahuja.

while his United for Victory alliance obtained
13.1%.
Mian Prime Minister Pakistan On April 11, 2022, the National Assembly of

Shehbaz Sharif Sharif as 23rd Prime Minister (PM) of Pakistan.
Shehbaz Sharif, President of Pakistan Muslim
League-Nawaz (PML-N) party secured 174 votes
out of 342 (Whereas a winning candidate needs
to get only 172 votes for a simple majority).
Since Independence in 1947, Pakistan has
struggled with political instability with multiple
regime changes and military coups, and no PM
has ever completed a full five-year term so far.

stepped down under pressure from Saudi Arabia.

He also removed Vice President Ali Mohsen Al-

The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the extension of service to Kamlesh
Nilkanth Vyas, Chairman of Atomic Energy Commission (AEC), for a period of 1 year beyond 3rd May
2022, i.e., upto 3rd May 2023. This is the 2nd extension for Kamlesh Nilkanth Vyas, who has been serving
as the Chairman of Atomic Energy Commission since September 2018.

A Committee of Secretaries has selected Nitin Gupta, a 1986 batch IRS officer, as a new Chairman of
the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), an apex body of the Income Tax Department. His
appointment was approved by the Appointment Committee of Cabinet (ACC).
✓ He will replace Sangeeta Singh, a 1986 batch Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer who is
an incumbent chairman of CBDT after JB Mohapatra, a full-time chairman retired as the head of

✓ Tapan Deka,a 1988 batch IPS officer of the Himachal Pradesh cadre has been appointed the new
Director of Intelligence Bureau (IB), central intelligence agency. He will replace incumbent
