Libertarians place an emphasis on free association, individualism, freedom of choice, and

voluntary association. Their goal is to maximize individual autonomy and political freedom
while minimizing the violation of individual liberties by the state. On the other hand, left-
libertarianism is a political philosophy as well as a subtype of libertarianism that places an
emphasis on both social equality and the freedom of the individual. According to Bookchin
(1997), left-libertarianism is an umbrella term for several distinct yet related approaches to
political theory, social ideology, and social theory that have a culturally leftist orientation. This
supports the idea of a robust government that is decentralized as well as social welfare. In
addition, socialist left-libertarians adhere to the principle of full respect for private property, but
they are opposed to capitalism and the idea that private individuals should own the means of
production (Kropotkin, 2002). According to Peterson (2013), a left-libertarian is someone who
rejects the understanding that individual rights and freedom are in conflict with ideals of equality
and social justice.
With my Political Quiz result, I kind of agree, and I think it fits with what I believe
because I care about human rights and fairness for everyone. I think that human rights are
fundamental rights that we all have because we are people. This shows some of the most
important values in our society, such as fairness, respect, dignity, and equality. They are
important ways to keep us safe, especially for people who may be abused, ignored, or left alone.
True human rights are not just for the rich or the persons in power. I also think that people need
to be treated fairly and with justice. We should be able to enjoy our rights and freedoms without
fear or repression.
At the moment, it would appear that those in power do not respect human rights, and
there are still many problems associated with violations of human rights, such as extra-judicial
killings and abuse of powers by the military and police. We have observed that it seems that
justice can be bought in the Philippines and that only the wealthy receive adequate protection; if
you are poor, you will be prioritized for treatment last. It is saddening to acknowledge that this is
happening not only in the Philippines but throughout the entire world. Left-libertarianism is a
political ideology that advocates for greater social and economic equality, as well as individual
freedom and progressive reforms. And these are also the things I am fighting for.
In 2020, President Duterte signed the Anti-Terrorism Bill, and I am among those calling
for its repeal because it contains numerous provisions that can violate human rights. The upheld
provisions have "dangerous effects" for everyone, and this law now "serves as the grim reaper of
freedom of expression and association" in the country. It is oppressive and will restrict our rights
to protest and speak out against societal issues. The anti-terrorism law is highly susceptible to
abuse, and the resulting breaches of human rights would be a nightmare.
Another aspect of left-libertarianism with which I agree is that it does not assert that
"people can do whatever they choose and no one can stop them." Left-libertarianism, on the
other hand, offers a society in which individuals are free to pursue their own lives so long as they
respect the equal rights of others. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual,
transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, and asexual/aromantic/agender plus) community, I
advocate for freedom, equal rights, and respect of all members of society. In the country,
widespread and systematic violations of human rights based on sexual orientation, gender
identity and expression (SOGIE), and homosexuality continue. The arrests, harassment, and
discrimination encountered by LGBTQIA+ individuals in our nation illustrate the urgent need for
our government to take action. The first anti-discrimination bill was filed to Congress in 2000,
and after 22 years, there is still no law protecting the community from inequality. The
government also fails to address the excessive number of hate crimes and murders committed
against LGBT individuals in the Philippines, and the number of hate crimes committed against
LGBT individuals in the Philippines is rising. I believe that the SOGIE Bill should be passed
immediately because it will also uphold the rights outlined in the 1987 Constitution, including
the equal protection clause. The SOGIE Bill protects the community from discrimination that
heterosexuals rarely face, while simultaneously safeguarding them. The bill is not intended to
uplift the LGBTQIA+ community because basic human rights are neither exceptional or a
luxury. Basic human rights are not a privilege that should be granted just to those who have
earned a safe place in the world; we all deserve them. Nobody should be afraid of being their
true selves. It is not illegal nor a crime to identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer,
intersex, asexual, or non-binary.
As left-libertarianism holds that each person has the ability to select and decide on their
life while respecting the rights of others, I too hold this belief because of our life, our rule. I
believe that abortion and divorce should be made legal in the United States. Being pro-choice
does not imply that I am pro-abortion; I believe that abortion is a personal decision and that
women have the right to decide whether or not to give birth because it is their body.
Furthermore, many women are unwilling to endure the physical and mental agony of pregnancy
and childbirth in order to abort a child. Therefore, laws that protect a woman's freedom to choose
should be advocated. On the other side, I agree on the matter of divorce, and I feel that if it is
legalized, it will increase our respect for marriage by making us more selective in our life
decisions. It safeguards children against abuse and rehabilitates broken families. Let those who
seek divorce have the freedom and a second opportunity at happiness. Atom Araullo stated that
happy marriages will remain happy with or without divorce, and poisonous ones will remain
toxic. If divorce is not for you, why would you deny it to others? Everyone has the right to
happiness and freedom.
Left-libertarianism is always for the greater good of the masses, the people, and the
nation. In the same vein as left-wing libertarianism, I believe that everyone should be able to live
a life that is free and full of joy, without being held back by any chains, without being afraid or
judged, and without being subjected to exploitation or oppression. Justice and equality ought to
be at the center of our daily lives..
