How to Track New Satellite

1. First you must find the proper data for the Satellite you wish to track. These are,
- If your vessel is within the footprint of the desired satellite.
- Satellite Name.
- Satellite Azimuth Angle.
- A few Transponder frequencies in the High Band, meaning frequencies above 11.500Mhz in Horizontal
polarization.

A good way to find the above information are, www.satbeams.com website for the satellite footprint and for
the satellite data information, the www.lyngsat.com website.

As an example, you wish to track GALAXY 19 satellite in while you are sailing in US waters.

A. Go to www.satbeams.com,

B. In the Search Bar write the name of the desired Satellite, i.e GALAXY 19,

 C. In the new window select GALAXY 19 under Satellites tab,

D. In the new window, write down the displayed SATELLITE ORBITAL POSITION, (in the specific example
97W) and the left click on the displayed footprint.

 E. In the new window select the Ku band footprint and zoom in the map to have a clear view of the satellite
footprint,

F. Zoom in more the map until you can see the area where the vessel is sailing.

 H. In the displayed information window you shall see the RECOMMENDED DISH SIZE. Since the antenna you
are carrying is a 90cm antenna, this value must always be equal or less than 90cm. In this case, in all
areas with same color and darker color your system will normally track the specific satellite.
I. Go to www.lyngsat.com,

J. As you have noted above in step D, GALAXY 19 has orbital position 97W, so in the new window select the
proper satellites link which includes the 97W value, and left click,

 K. In the new window locate GALAXY 19, and left click,

L. In the new window, scroll down, until you can see all 5 digit frequencies.

 M. Locate three frequencies, which have HORIZONTAL polarization, you shall find these frequencies marked,
as shown above with a capital H, after the frequency number, e.g. 11842H.
N. Next to each frequency in the top row you will information about the Symbol Rate (SBR or SR), the
Forward Error Correction (FEC) and the Network ID (NID).
O. For the three frequencies, write down these values, as defined in the Lyngsat table. If you are not sure
for the NID leave it blank

2. While antenna is powered on and the ACU displays the main page, press [OK], to access MAIN MENU.

3. Using the up-down arrows select [SERVICE] and press [OK].

4. Using the up-down arrows select [PC OVERRIDE] and press [OK].

5. The indication "PC OVERRIDE, PRESS ENTER TO ABORT" will be displayed. Do not press OK button at this
stage.

 6. Using a laptop with the Antenna Software installed, connect through an A/B type USB cable the laptop to the
ACU.
7. Run the Antenna Software.

8. Select [Satellites] button.

9. Select [Sat Id] button.

 10. In the prompted Sat Id window, in the SATELLITES area insert the new Satellite data in the white blank fiends,

11. Then press the new button, and the GALAXY satellite will appear in the satellite list,

 12. In the CHANNELS area insert the frequencies found from lyngsat in the white blank fiends,

18. Press [New] button to save it in the Channels list.

19. Press [Close] button to go back to the main window.
20. If in the Main window the “Manual” option is selected, press the “Auto” button.

21. Select [Satellites] button.

 22. From the list of satellites displayed, locate and left-click “GALAXY 19”. When the specific satellite is selected
(highlighted blue) select [Set Satellite] button.

23. The antenna should normally start searching for GALAXY 19. Allow the system enough time to try tracking
the satellite.
