IPC. https://www.ipc.on.ca/education/using-and-disclosing
personal-information/when-can-a-school-board-disclose-a-
students-personal-information/.
What information is confidential?

All of it. All personal/identifiable information

that a young person tells their CYCP (as long as
it does not cross a limit to confidentiality) is to
be kept to the CYCP only. This includes school
photos/videos, health information, school
records, the feelings a young person has,
recent events in their lives, family issues,
personal issues, etc. (A Guide to Privacy and
Access to Information in Ontario Schools, 3)

What are the limits to confidentiality?

If a young person discloses that they are:

 Being physically, sexually, or

emotionally abused/neglected.
 A threat to themselves or others
 Attending under a subpoena, hearing,
or order by a court of law.

Information may also be shared if the young

person gives consent. (When can a school
board disclose a student's personal
information?, 3)
