Activity Outline

Activity Name: People Bingo

Objective: Have participants become familiar with other residents by communicating with each
toher and walking around the room in order to fill out their bingo card.

Therapeutic Value: Helps increase communication skills, relationships with others, and
motivation

Age of Participants: 12-18

Number of Participants: 10-25 people

Materials Required

 Paper bingo cards with different activities or traits that other participants in the group
may have (eg, “has travelled outside of Canada” or “speaks more than one language”)
 Pencil, pen, or maker
 Area big enough for youths to walk around comfortably

Description of How to Play or Complete the Activity


1. Each participant with receive a bingo card
2. All participants will walk around the room and find others who have done an activity on
the card or have a character trait on the card, by asking each other questions.
3. Participants will sign each others cards on the activity square that they have done or the
character trait they have
4. Whoever completes a line in any direction on their board first, wins

Evaluation Method to Determine Effectiveness


Youth will have increased social skills within the other people living in the
residency/attending the program. They will know more fun facts about each other, and after
the activity is over, the whole group can talk about fun things that the youth learned about
their peers.

Pitfalls and Precautions


Teens may not be interested in getting up and walking around the room
There might be a square on the bingo card that cannot be filled
Participants may cheat and have people sign squares they are not qualified to sign
