Recount text 

is a text that retells a story about past events or experiences in the order they
happened. Its purpose is to inform/retell past event to the audience.
A recount text has three elements :
1.      Orientation : tells who is involved in the story, when, where, and why the story happened
2.      Series of events : tells what happened in the story
3.      Re-orentation : (optional) tells the conclusion of the story.
Language Feature of Recount
o Introducing personal participant : I, my group, etc
o Using chronological connection : then, first, etc
o Using linking verb : was, were, saw, heard, etc
o Using action verb : look, go, change, etc
o Using simple past tense

Simple Past Tense


Bentuk past tense digunakan untuk menunjukkan kegiatan di masa lampau. Simple past tense
sendiri adalah bentuk sederhana untuk menunjukkan kejadian di masa lampau.

Ada dua jenis bentuk past tense:

o Verbal
o Nominal.

Berikut rumus past tense,

1) Simple past nominal


Bentuk ini digunakan untuk kalimat yang diikuti oleh kata sifat (adjective), kata benda
(noun), dan keterangan tempat (adverb place)
To be dalam bentuk past ada dua:
o Was digunakan untuk I, He, She, dan It. 
o Were digunakan untuk You, They, dan We.

Positive:
Subject + to be + noun/adj/adv.
Negative:
Subject + to be + not + noun/adj/adv.
Interrogative:
To be + subject + noun/adj/adv + ?
Contoh:
 She was a teacher five years ago.
 They were not at the theater last month.
 Were you sick during the history class yesterday?
2) Simple past verbal
Di dalam kalimat bentuk ini terdapat kata kerja atau verb. Verb yang digunakan adalah
past tens verb atau Verb 2. 

Positive:
Subject + verb 2.
Negative:
Subject + did not + present verb/verb 1,
Interrogative:
Did + subject + present verb/verb 1 + ?

Verb 2 ada yang berbentuk regular (beraturan) dan irregular (tidak beraturan). Untuk
regular biasanya ditambah "-ed" di akhir kata. 
Contoh:
 I wrote some letters yesterday.
 We baked a cake for Mia's birthday last month.
 My mom did not go to work last week.
 Did you buy a glass of ice tea two days ago?
