Where does your culture range on “Hierarchy vs. Equality”?

*
How high or low is the power distance in your culture? Are people in higher
position of the hierarchy treated very differently than the people in the
lower positions?  Note: Hierarchy can relate to parents vs. children, teacher
vs. student, elderly people vs. younger people, manager vs. worker, rich
people vs. poor people, etc.

What is high and low power distance culture?

Power Distance. This is the way people in a society relate to each other on a
hierarchical scale. A culture that gives great deference to a person
of authority is a High Power Distance culture, and a culture that
values the equal treatment of everyone is a Low Power Distance
culture.
Jarak Kuasa.

Where does your culture range on “Individualism vs. Collectivism”?*

Is the individual more important or is the group more important? How comfortable
would you feel to voice a personal opinion that differs from the group. Would it be more
important than to maintain harmony in the group? Note: Groups can be families, circle
of friends, school classes, sports teams, etc.
How is a group more effective than an individual?

'' Combining the efforts of multiple people in a team allows a team to

accomplish more than each person working independently. A team
environment means quicker turnaround of projects because tasks are divided into pieces
of the same goal, based on each member's skill and expertise

Why is the team more important than the individual?

While working in a team, thoughts and ideas flow more freely and

people can use this to make their job or projects in a more
efficient way. When you are trying to meet a deadline and you haven't
finished or done your task, you can ask for help from your co-workers or
colleagues.

Teamwork brings people together (the bonding agent) and motivates them
to rely on one another to get things done. Teamwork also makes progress
easier (the lubrication) and allows the group to overcome obstacles that
would have stymied an individual. Without teamwork, none of that would
be possible.

Why is it better to work as a team than by yourself?

Research shows that collaborative problem solving leads to better
outcomes. People are more likely to take calculated risks that lead to
innovation if they have the support of a team behind them. Working in a
team encourages personal growth, increases job satisfaction, and
reduces stress
