WINTER STUDY GUIDE for DP2 Ab Initio MANDARIN

The objective of this study guide is to prompt you to study for 7 hours in total during
the winter holiday. It is recommended that you sit for 30 minutes each time to develop
a topic or practice a skill. We focus on building up vocabulary and developing reading
skills. There will be opportunities to get feedback after the break.

Vocabulary building up

Instruction:
Step 1: Learn the vocabulary from Quizlet.

Step 2: Practice writing the characters; write them repeatedly, and make sure you know the meaning and
pronunciation while writing them.

Step 3: Test yourself by creating a test in the Quizlet.

Step 4: Review the vocabulary you answered wrong in the test.

* Quizlet sets are in Quizlet folder

Reading skills (*all reading texts are from past papers. It is extremely
important to learn the vocabulary from the text)

Instruction:

Step 1: Read the questions, find the question words and circle them

Step 2: Briefly read the text once, and mark some keywords such as numbers, verbs, negative words “不
，没…”, conjunctions “虽然…但是/可是…,；还有…；不但...而且...”等等

Step 3: Answer the questions

Step 4: Check the mark scheme with your answers

Step 5: Learn the text, and make sure you know all the vocabulary in the text.
