Why do you wish to join NSS ?

I want to join NSS as I want to give back to the community. I have been
fortunate enough to live a safe and comfortable life and I am very well aware
of the fact that not everyone has this luxury. I want to do my part by helping
the underprivileged and try to make an impact on the society. I also want to
play a role in organising the various events that are carried out by NSS in the
college. I also want to spread awareness and try and destigmatize various
topics like gender, sexuality etc. Joining NSS will help me achieve these goals of
mine.

What is the value of self-care for you? How do you ensure your mental well-
being ?

I believe that self-care is extremely important for an individual. We live in a

world where overworking oneself and neglecting one’s own mental and
physical well-being has become very normalised. It is imperative to prioritise
oneself and engage in activities that nurture our mental and emotional well-
being. I ensure my mental well-being by taking out one hour every single day
to do something that i love like baking, playing basketball or even watching a
TV show that i like. This helps me unwind and relax. I also journal every single
day before sleeping. This helps me process my day and set realistic goals for
myself.

What one trait according to you a person should have while doing social
work ?

One trait that a person should have while doing social work is compassion.
Being able to take the perspective of and feel the emotions of another person
and also have the desire to help them is a very important trait for a social
worker. A person doing social work should be compassionate towards the
condition of the underprivileged. A social worker should be able to perceive,
understand, experience and respond to the emotional state of another person.
What have you read recently that has impacted or changed how you see the
world ?

Recently I read the book ‘The Secret’ by Rhonda Byrne. The book has
empowered me and changed the way i perceive things. The book focuses on
how the law of attraction which is ‘like attracts like’ works like a magnet in our
life. If you think negative thoughts it attracts negative events. This book has
made me realise that my life is in my own hands and that no matter what my
circumstances are i can choose my thoughts. I have started applying this in
every aspect of my life. It has greatly motivated me to think positively.

behind my house. My family and I have also provided them meals various
times. I also frequently feed the dogs in my neighbourhood. I have also
