STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

As we are currently living in the Information Age where information is are widely available,
technological companies have been adapting and using information to its maximum extent by creating
numerous software and making good use of technology. Especially today that we are living in a
pandemic, people have been relying too much on technology in their daily lives. There is software used
for data processing which helps people with data they have gathered by creating shortcuts, thus helping
the duration of process in data collection by speeding the process. Multiplan, a spreadsheet program
that Microsoft first marketed in 1982, was very popular on CP/M systems but lost out to Lotus 1-2-3 on
MS-DOS systems. This encouraged the creation of Excel. This opened up practically limitless
opportunities for automating monotonous tasks for computing numbers, automating business
processes, and presenting data. (ExcelHelp, 2021)

The Excel Cells contain more than 300 built-in formulas. The accuracy of the calculation formulas
(Text, Date, String, Math, etc.) will aid in accuracy. VBA Macros: VBA programming is included with
Excel. The Macros feature allows us to automate routine tasks. An interactive way to quickly summarize
large amounts of data is with a pivot table. A PivotTable can be used to thoroughly analyze numerical
data and provide unexpected answers about your data. A pivot table is particularly useful for queries on
large amounts of data in various user-friendly ways. While Pivot Charts are one of the best ways to
present the report. They assist us in more easily comprehending and analyzing the data. We can
visualize data in a variety of ways using pivot charts in Excel. It is basically a visual aid for the information
gathered in the pivot table. These features enable users to classify data into meaningful categories,
identify trends, and organize and sort it. To identify the effects of this software to an entity, the team
gathered the sales and inventory of BEN-LEN store and used the garnered information to see how big of
an impact the inflation rate has dealt with the store, by comparing data and seeing the price changes in
the store. The software is also supposed to help the team with the monitoring of monthly sales (whether
loss or profit), the quantity and prices of products, customer directory, and even the existing debts of
customers.
OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY

This study aims help the BEN-LEN store with the help of Microsoft Excel and its features especially the
PivotTable and Pivot Charts. This study specifically aims:

1. To monitor the sales and inventory of the BEN-LEN store especially the quantity and prices of
products.
2. To distinguish the impact of inflation rate on the store’s operations.
3. To monitor the customers especially on their existing debts to the store.
4. To help people be familiarized with the PivotTable and Pivot Chart of Microsoft Excel.
