Exponential Function or Inverse Function

1.The population of the Municipal of Flora Apayao can be

modeled with the formula F=12000(e 0 . 009 z) where F represents the
population and z indicates time in years. Find the population
after 13 years.

Solution:
This is an example of how to simulate population
expansion using exponential functions.
First we must identify the following given in the
problem. We have the function F=12000(e 0 . 009 z) and we also have
the time which is z=13 .
Next, we need to substitute the following given to the
function. We have:

F=12000 ( e )
0 .009 z

F=12000(e 0 . 009(13) )
0 . 009(13)
F=12000(e )

F=12000 ( e 0 .117 )
F=12000 ( 1. 12412 )
F=13489 . 43316
As a result, after 13 years, the population of Flora
Apayao Municipal would be 13489.

2.For your UTI, you must take an antibiotic. The function A=19 e−0 .6 c
calculates the amount of milligrams of antibiotic remaining in your
system after c hours.
a. Find the amount of drug after 3 hours.
To solve for the problem let c=3 in the original equation.
−0 .6 c
A=19 e
A=19 e−0 .6 (3 )
−1. 8
A=19 e
A=19 ( 0. 165299 )
A=3 .140681
3.140681 milligrams of the antibiotic remain in your system after 3
hours.
b. Find the amount of the antibiotic after 7 hours.
Replace c with 7 in the equation to get:

A=19 e−0 .6 c
−0 .6 (7 )
A=19 e
−4 .2
A=19 e
A=19 ( 0. 0149956 )
A=0 .2849164
After 7 hours, 0.2849164 milligrams are left in the body, which is
virtually completely eliminated from your system.
