COVID-19 PCR test is a real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction test for the qualitative detection of nucleic acid from
SARS-CoV-2.

Clinical Utility
Covid -19 PCR test is intended for qualitative detection of RNA from SARS-CoV-2 in nasopharyngeal swabs specimens. The RNA is generally
detected in nasopharyngeal swabs during the acute phase of infection. Positive results are indicative of the presence of SARS-CoV-2 RNA in
the patient sample. Positive results do not rule out bacterial infection or co-infection with other viruses. . The clinical diagnosis and
treatment of patients should be considered in combination with other symptoms/signs, medical history, other laboratory tests and treatment
responses.

Limitation
Negative results do not preclude SARS-CoV-2 infection and should not be used as the sole basis for diagnostic decisions. Negative results
must be combined with clinical observations, patient history, recent exposures and epidemiological information. Collection of multiple
specimens (types and time points) from the same patient maybe necessary to detect the virus.
