Hand Tool Safety

● Select the right tool and use it correctly


● Make sure all tools in good working condition before using
● Firmly hod or clamp all work
● Use a brush for cleaning the shop
● Make sure the tool you are using is electrically grounded
● Use the correct type and right size screwdriver for each job
● Make sure the blade is in good condition, and the shaft is not bent
● Never hold small work in your hand while using a screwdriver
● The handle must be firm and free from splinters and cracks
● The head must be attached securely to the handle.
● Waffle-head is for framing, a smooth face is for finish work (what we do in here)
● Make sure it has a handle!
● They’re brittle! Don’t drop them!
● Use the right size and correct type of wrench for the job
● When tightening with adjustable jaw wrench, pull towards the moveable jaw
● Make sure the jaws fit snugly around the bolt
● Never apply a wrench to moving machinery and never leave a wrench where it
can cause injury.
● Use pliers to grip round or irregular shaped objects.
