General Tool Safety

1.Select the right tool for the right jobs and use it correctly
2.Make sure all tools are in good working order before working with it
3.Firmly hold or clamp all work
4.Use a brush to clean up the shop
5.Make sure the tools you are using is electrically grounded
-Screwdrivers
6.Use the correct size and correct type screwdriver for each job
7.Make sure the blade is in good condition and the shaft is not bent
8.Never hold small work in your hand while using a screwdriver
-Hammers
9.The hammer must be firm and free of splinters and/or cracks
10.The head must be securely attached to the handle.
11.Waffle-head is for framing, a smooth face is for finish work (what we do in the class)
-Files
12.Make sure it has a handle
13.They’re brittle. Don’t drop them.
-Wrenches and Pliers
14.Use the right size and correct type wrench for the job
15.When tightening with an adjustable wrench, pull towards the movable jaw
16.Make sure the jaws of the wrench fit snug around the nut or bolt
17.Never apply a wrench to moving machinery and never leave a wrench where it can
cause injury
18.Use pliers to grip round or irregular shaped objects
