ABSTRACT:

The objective of this project is to evaluate the phytoremediation treatment from the in vitro
implementation of the water hyacinth Eichhornia crassipe in samples of groundwater (SO) and domestic
water (SA) of the La Venturosa farm in the La Chamuscada village, located in the rural area of the
municipality of Puerto Rondón, Arauca. For the evaluation, the study of the corresponding area was
carried out in the first place in order to identify the problems in the area, followed by the collection of the
samples where the physicochemical parameters of the sample to be treated were identified. (dissolved
oxygen (DO), total solids, turbidity, BOD, conductivity and pH) and the determination of the initial
concentration of Fe by means of the Lambert Beer equation using the spectrophotometry technique.
From this, the in vitro culture of Eichhornia crassipe was carried out for each sample to be studied in
order to start the phytoremediation process, in this way the corresponding absorbance calculations were
made to determine the final concentration of Iron in the samples. using the aforementioned technique.
The main results obtained were: removal percentages for SA 89% with a final concentration of 1,723
Ppm and for SO 81% removal with a final concentration of 4,466 Ppm; pH for SO of 6.7 and for SA of
7.1 which, according to resolution 2115 of 2007, comply with the parameters established for human
consumption.
