Bill: Hi Clara! 2. great / a great film
Clara: Hi Bill! What are you doing? 3. 24 children
Bill: I’m looking for a good film which I can watch on 4. survives
TV tonight. 5. to save her sister
Clara: What types of films do you like?
Bill: I like fantasy and adventure films. Speaking
Clara: Oh, then you must see The Hunger Games. It’s
a great film! Accept all logical and grammatically correct
Bill: The Hunger Games? What’s it about? answers.
Clara: Well, the film is about Panem. That’s the name of
a country.
Bill: Panem? Where’s Panem?
Clara: It’s not a real country. It’s a country in the future.
And every year in Panem, twelve girls and twelve
boys are chosen to play the Hunger Games.
Bill: Games are fun. I like playing games.
Clara: Not these games! In The Hunger Games, the boys
and girls must fight. It’s a reality TV show.
Children on the show fight and only one of them
survives.
Bill: WHAT? The children die in the Games?
Clara: Yeah!
Bill: That’s terrible! Who’s in the film?
Clara: The main character Katniss Everdeen, is played
by Jennifer Lawrence.
Bill: Jennifer Lawrence, the actress from X-Men?
Clara: That’s right.
Bill: OK, so tell me about Katniss Everdeen. What’s
she like?
Clara: Katniss is pretty and strong. She’s also very
brave. Katniss and her sister Primrose grew up in
a poor family. They didn’t have much food and
were often hungry. It was hard for the girls to
survive.
Bill: Does Katniss compete in the Hunger Games?
Clara: Yes, she does. She volunteers for the Games to
save her sister. Katniss is quickly sent to the
Capitol where she has some hard training before
she goes into the arena to fight.
Bill: Sounds exciting.
Clara: It is. There’s a boy in the Games whose name is
Peeta and he falls in love with Katniss.
Bill: Do Katniss and Peeta reach the end of the
Games? Do they survive?
Clara: Well, I’m not telling you that. Watch the film and
find out!
