The Slag Cement Arrive in Myanmar
Introduction
Yojin Group in Korea
Since its foundation in 1976, the Yojin Group has been successfully creating more beautiful and reliable buildings with passion and challenge in the
construction industry for the past 40 years under the management philosophy of customer satisfaction, a spirit of challenge, and respect for human
beings.
Yojin Group has built a large and varied portfolio of impressive achievements in construction buildings, US FED Construction, civil engineering, hotel,
retail and even Myanmar cement business with accumulated technical expertise and experience. Yojin Group has evolved into a comprehensive con-
struction & engineering firm which is leading the industry by continuously delivering the highest value to the customers on the entire value chains.
Especially Yojin Group has introduced "Yojin Y City" brand concept which means "Another City built by Yojin C&E" into Mixed-use complex and suc-
cessfully provided "Y City" complexes in many areas for the past 10 years, while continuing to ensure sophisticated design , customer satisfaction, and
quality control as its top priority. In particular, "Ilsan Yojin Y City", which has a total project cost of 1.5 trillion won, is the landmark mixed-use complex
providing diverse programs and privileges to the residents and visitors in the region.
Yojin seeks to further strengthen its competitive edge by continuous innovation and investment in the Myanmar cement market to enhance its over-
seas expansion and to become a new global company.

Yojin Myanmar Cement in Yangon
Yojin Myanmar Cement, a subsidiary of Yojin Group in Korea, is the first cement plant in Yangon, Myanmar. Unlike other cement
plants located near the mine, the plant is located in the Thilawa Special Economic Zone, where only the clinker, an intermediate
material of cement, is imported and subjected to grinding. Meanwhile, Yojin imported major equipment from Europe and Korea,
and currently 10 employees from Korea manage the quality and service directly. Therefore, both raw material quality and production
technology of Yojin Cement are ahead of local production.
This year, Logistics Corporation was established, start its own warehouse in Mingaladon following truck purchases, and carry out
both bag cement and external logistics together. As the market entry strategy has focused on the bulk business, we are now looking
forward to expanding the bag cement market by launching the logistics business and promoting and marketing in earnest.

WELCOMING SPEECH
Hello, I am Joon Myung Choi, the Chairman of Yojin Construction & Engineering.
Firstly, I would like to thank you for your love for Yojin cement of Yojin Construction & Engineering in Ko-
rea, and I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the Myanmar construction department officials,
including the Korean Embassy in Myanmar, who helped in the opening of the Slag Cement Technology
Seminar in Yangon, Myanmar.
Myanmar has a high annual economic growth rate of 6-7%. The skyline of Yangon is changing every day
as overseas investment attraction has become more active and demand for housing, businesses, accom-
modations, as well as industrial facilities is constantly increasing.
At this moment of Myanmar construction industry’s new leap, in order to play an important role in enter-
ing overseas business and developing Myanmar economy, Yojin Construction & Engineering combined its
40 years of construction expertise and the advanced cement production technology of Korea to establish
and operate a 1 million ton cement plant in Yangon at the end of 2018, and has set up a logistics corpora-
tion this year to gear up the Myanmar business.
Last September, President Jae In Moon of South Korea visited Myanmar to further strengthen the friendly cooperation between the two coun-
tries, which has been growing since the diplomatic relations in 1975. Through Korea’s New Southern Policy for prosperity with ASEAN, Korea
is walking alongside the growth and development of Myanmar. And at the center of this is Yojin Group and Yojin Cement. Based on the trust and
friendship of both countries, Yojin Group will do its best to help Myanmar’s construction and cement business settle down as a high value-added
industry that will lead future growth.
In order to become a company that contributes to the sustainable growth of Myanmar, Yojin Group will continue to carry out the local construc-
tion business, starting with Yojin Myanmar Cement, and various activities such as social contribution and cultural exchanges. We will become a
company that is most loved by Myanmar, a company that has the highest brand value, and a company with the highest reliability.
Please continue to keep your eyes on Yojin Group’s progress as we grow with Myanmar.
Thank you.

Conclusion
With increasing environmental awareness in the world and the popularization of slag
cement in Southeast Asia countries, slag cement is expected to be popular in Myanmar in
the near future, after the pioneering delivery for the new project by Yojin Myanmar Cement.
• Increasing environmental awareness in the world has accelerated the demand of slag cement
• As the country’s economy grows, the use of slag cement tends to increase as it is seen in Korea
or Japan, etc.
• Although slag cement is not yet popular in Myanmar, it is expected to be used commonly in the
near future after Yojin Myanmar cement supplies to the new project.

37
Main Session
• S
lag concrete is more affected by curing temperature than OPC concrete.
• S
trength development of slag concrete is superior to that of OPC concrete under high temper-
ature cuing
Slag concrete or Slag cement concrete is suitable for climate conditions in Myanmar.

This is due to the fact that Demand has not been sufficient
in Myanmar until 2000. Therefore, in cement shops selling
cement, mixed sand products are often sold. Before 2000,
such fake events often occurred.
Therefore, special attention was given to the cement qual-
ity control of the Ministry of Industry No. 1 of the cement
industry in Myanmar. Cement factories are not allowed to
include cement except for clinker and gypsum. Some fac-
tories have proposed to produce blended cement, but the
industry did not accept it.

There are many SiO2, Al2O3, Fe2O3, CaO, and MgO found in cement in many
slags. However, these are in the cement mixing system, which is made of ce-
ment, but it is a mixture of ordinary and non-sludge. They have no cementitious
properties called cement properties. However, when the ceramic slag and slag
are properly mixed, the catalysts, such as C3S, C2S, in the cement are activated
as catalysts in the slag, resulting in their cementitious properties. In this way,
Slag Cement has become a very useful cement.
Slag Cement does not have as much of the Heat of Hydration, which reacts
with water.

The Yojin Myanmar Cement Co., Ltd., a Korean company, is now in the
Thilawa Special Economic Zone. Kim.Jong-Sik headed by Slag Cement
to produce a new era of Myanmar cement industry. Thanks to Yogin
Cement and Mr. Kim Jong Sik.
The first Yojin’s V.R.M Cement Mills specially designed by the German
Losche for slag cement grinding with the Lowest Power consumpsion
& Highest Quality are the first used for slag cement manufacturing in
History of Myanmar Cement Industry.
Also, Yojin Cement is used in Dutch-based Advanced and newest XRF
Analizer and other machines to ensure quality control of cement and
Slag Cement quality.
Additionally, Cement and concrete testers at Yojin Cement Plant are
very advanced, as well as a well-established laboratory for Yojin’s Cli-
ents as like RMC & Construction Copmpanies.
I personally hope this Yojin Technical Seminar on Slag cement will con-
tribute to the various cement consumers’ option in Myanmar.
