What do we use water for? We drink it, wash with it, clean things with it, swim in it,
and lots more. Here are some interesting facts about water.

5 Ants
Most of your body is made of water. About 85% of your brain and 33% of your bones
are water! It is important to drink lots of water every day to keep your body
healthy.

All living things need water to survive. A person can live without food for more

than a month. But a person can only live without water for about one week.
If we drink dirty water, we get ill. Lots of people on Earth die every year because
they don’t have clean water to drink.

7 Ancient Egypt
Water is recycled and it evaporates and condenses over and over again. This is called
the water cycle. There isn’t any new water on the planet. The water around us now
is the same water that was on the planet when the dinosaurs were alive!
Factories use a lot of water. It takes more than 9,000 litres of water to make four

tyres for a car!
Sharks
97% of the Earth’s water is in the seas and oceans, so it is salty. 2% of the Earth’s
water is frozen and it is in the ice caps at the North Pole and the South Pole. This
leaves only 1% of the Earth’s water for all the rivers and lakes, and for drinking,

washing, and all the other things that we use water for!
