FY23 Modern Work (MCI) Build Intent Workshop Customer Trials

Partners can request a trial for their Approved and or Completed Modern Work Build Intent workshops as
of July 15, 2022.

Partners can request a trial via a new form that will validate their request and provide a Trial Promo Code
upon successful form submission.

running with the appropriate admin-led trial.

2. The customer has not purchased licenses for the trial sku in question (Ex. The customer will be
unable to start an Office 365 E3 trial if they have already purchased Office 365 E3 licenses on this
tenant).

free to reach out to our team at MWSPartnerTrials@microsoft.com.

For help troubleshooting access to specific trial options, please direct the customer to submit a support
ticket through the Admin Center.

Overview of Partner Led Customer Admin Trials

Product trials can be one of the most effective tools to move your sales opportunities forward during
and/or after a Build Intent Workshop. Trials are specific, so please consider these general guidelines when
using trials:

• Trials are intended for product evaluations and not for long term testing environments for
customers.
• Trials are generally not intended for all users to evaluate, but instead for a subset of users, for a
limited period of time.
• Customer Admin trials are only available in those countries/regions where the service is
commercially available. Additional availability restrictions may apply.
• We recommend that you actively engage with your customer while they are using the trial. This is
your opportunity to showcase the capabilities included in Microsoft 365 within their environment
and move the deal forward.

FAQ

Q: Who are eligible customers for the trials?

Customers eligible for Build Intent Workshops are eligible for the customer trials. Refer to the workshop
eligibility within each Build Intent Workshop: https://aka.ms/mci/workshops.

Q: Are FY22 H2 Modern Work Build Intent Workshops eligible for the customer trials?
Yes, workshops that have been delivered in FY22 that are in the approved and or completed stage would
be eligible.

Q: How does a customer trial work and how do we help?

Our team cannot directly add trial subscriptions to your customer’s tenant, only a company admin will be
able to perform this function. Once the subscription is deprovisioned, no one will be able to recover the
data associated with that trial subscription or reactivate the trial offer.

Click here to learn more about the subscription lifecycle.

Q: Can customer trials be used to address licensing issues with my customer?

No. Customer trials are intended for product evaluations only. The trials have real costs associated with
them paid for by Microsoft.

Q: Can my customer trial voice Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) on Azure AD?

No. Voice enablement on AAD that allows voice call MFA is no longer available on a trial license due to
the risk of voicemail hacking and fraud. Customers will be able to use this feature with a purchased
license.
Q: What are the terms and conditions of trials provided by Microsoft?
The Microsoft Online Subscription Trial Agreement outlines the specific terms and conditions of using
Microsoft customer trials. In addition, both paid and trial subscriptions fall under in the Microsoft Online
Subscription Agreement Terms and Conditions.

Trial Activation

We see a fair number of errors when customers try to activate trials on their tenants. While this can be for
a wide range of reasons, we have found some frequent causes as listed below. But first, it’s good to
recommend the following steps for a customer to activate a trial within their tenant:

Activation Steps:
1. Open an InPrivate browser window.
2. Log into https://admin.microsoft.com/ with your Company Administrator global admin
credentials.
3. Once logged in, paste the promo code URL you received into the browser window.
4. Confirm to add it to your existing account.
5. Confirm the addition of the subscription to the tenant.

If the above steps are followed and they still receive an error, find steps to address these errors below:

Deployment Resources

Once your customer has activated a trial for product evaluation, it is critical that they assign the licenses to
users and begin to explore what the product can do for them. This is a great opportunity to be very
hands-on and highlight specific features tailored to your customers’ specific needs.

Within the Microsoft 365 Admin Center, a Company Administrator has a series of Deployment
Wizards available to walk them through deploying the services on their tenant, whether they are a trial or
paid subscription. We recommend that you highlight the appropriate Wizard to your customer so that
they can begin their evaluation in earnest as soon as possible.
