ACTIVITY 2

1. How can you associate the title Bonsai with the aspects of love expressed in the poem?
 Just like the author did in the poem, I may relate the title Bonsai with the elements
of love portrayed in the poem. Given that a Bonsai tree is equivalent to a little tree,
love is something that may be folded or flexed depending on the occasion. I can
describe how love can be reduced to the size of a cupped hand. This irony
demonstrates that we all influence what our hearts are capable of giving. A bonsai is
a form of plant that requires you to control its development by regularly cutting or
pruning its beautiful shape. Likewise, love cannot be understood as something
particularly generic or big since too much of anything is harmful. To preserve all of
its characteristics, it is important to keep everything to reduce it to a smaller size.
Moreover, no bonsai plant can survive indefinitely. It would have to perish or fade
away at some point. Thus, love might not necessarily last forever. It would still be
there, but not quite the same. It may fade away if left unattended, or it may simply
die down whether it loses control. Hence, bonsai and love must be properly
maintained and cherished to achieve their innermost goal.

2. What is the poem all about?

 Edith Tiempo wrote the poem “Bonsai”. This poem, in my opinion, is about love and
how individuals fill particular items with love for a person, and those objects
become symbols of love. Bonsai is a long-lasting woody plant with the
characteristics of a tree and is the tiniest tree ever studied. The poem depicts how a
Bonsai may be associated with devotion. The topic of this poem is “Valuable and
Inheritable love”. A bonsai tree that is identical to a little tree symbolizes that no
matter how small the memory, it still appears precious. The poem also emphasizes
the importance of appreciating even the smallest of things. This poem, I believe, is
an admiration for a thing that may be unappreciated. Even though there are only a
few recollections, it is a memory that should not be lost and forgotten. As a result,
the key, to remembering is to maintain it as little as the form of the bonsai tree.

3. What is the significance of this poem to you?

 This poem holds special meaning for me since it is essentially a love poem. It's about
a mother's love for her daughter, which is now being passed down or handed over.
Bonsai is a poem on how love is simplified and reduced so that it may be shared
with others. Because this love has been compressed or shrunken down to something
little that can be shared, it is similar to a bonsai, which is a simplified replica of an
immense tree that can be given away and passed over to others. As a result, this love
is now being passed down through the generations. This poem is one of the few that
has left a lasting impression on me. It's underappreciated, but I highly recommend
giving it a read.
