TECHNICAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Ref: TA-01-2016

Date: 08 JAN 2016

Subject: SRT TORCH SYSTEM RELEASE

The SRT torch systems have been released to replace the Hazmat and non-Hazmat versions of the 2-
15/16” and 3-3/8” RCT torches for standard pressure (0psi to 10,000psi) use. Table 1 in this document
highlights where the SRT alternate torch configuration replaces the RCT systems.

The SRT systems have been developed for the highest sensitivity backside pipe and casing applications
and have been tested and qualified under prescribed conditions to minimize the potential for backside
pipe or casing impingement. The qualification process has resulted in three pressure ranges with
dedicated SRT recommended torch systems to match these environments. SRT torches are
recommended for 0 to 5000 psi, 5000 to 7,500 psi and 7500 to 10,000 psi. Alternate torch configurations
for SRT systems are provided for proper torch system selection (refer to Table 2 included in this
document). SRT-SP torch system configurations can only be used with dedicated SRE fuel extensions
prescribed in the specifications tables. SRT-SP Systems cannot be deployed with 4.1 Rated (EXT) and
Non-Rated (EXT-SP) Extensions.

As with all deployments, well and pipe conditions and toolstring build may substantially alter torch
performance. Users must follow all MCR standard operating procedures and technical recommendations
when deploying SRT systems. This includes provision for proper toolstring centralization as well as
maintaining the toolstring stationary during cutting through the use of the Pressure Balance Anchor
(PBA) system or the MCR Electro-Mechanical Anchor (EMA) system.

The current torch specifications have now been updated to include the Alternate Torch Specifications,
SRT-SP for reference. SRT torches are provided only as non-rated systems for the most convenient
shipping options.
