III. CIRCUIT WORKS

In Industrial Electronics (ECE 314), we are required to make a circuit using an

SCR or thyristor/thermistor. We gathered enough information through the previous
discussions and, with the help of online sources, were able to make the final output possible.

Our circuit is a Buzz Wire Game shown below. The aim is to move the handle
around the wire shape without touching it. If the handle touches the wire, a buzzer sounds.
This is the type of game that contains a Silicon-Controlled Rectifier (2N5046) in the circuit.
When the handle touches the wire the buzzer will sound until the reset push switch is
pressed, even if the handle is moved away from the wire (main function of SCR).

The operating voltage is 9 volts DC, the supply is power is connected to the closed
witch and to the ring (A) while the wire loop is connected to the buzzer, led, the SCR. A
small amount of current will flow to the wire (B) then it will automatically activate the
SCR. The circuit has a main component called a Silicon-Controlled Rectifier (SCR). This
is a special type of switch. When it is activated it cannot be turned off unless electrical
power is removed from the whole circuit. In order to remove the current to the SCR we
apply a switch to control the current flowing through the scr.
