HIDDEN CURRICULUM MODEL AT ISLAMIC BOARDING SCHOOL OF NURUL

HARAMAIN FOR MALE NW NARMADA

ABSTRACT

This research aimed to describe the structural and cultural aspects, to find out the

forms and models of the hidden curriculum implemented at Islamic Boarding School of

Nurul Haramain for male NW Narmada. The existence of Islamic Boarding School of Nurul

Haramain for Male NW Narmada has been able to answer the needs of Islamic education in

the midst of society. The combination of the government curriculum and the Islamic

Boarding School has resulted the controlled education system for 24 hours

This research used qualitative approach with case study type which focused on

certain phenomena occuring to students while carrying out activities in the dormitory.

Qualitative research is often also called penomenological research. This is based on its

natural condition. While data collection techniques used observation, interviews and

documentation, data analysis was carried out in three stages, namely data reduction, data

display and data conclusion following the Mile and Huberman models cited by Sugiyono.

The results of this research were the identification of several forms of activities

which can be categorized as hidden curriculum such as Guide (Musharifah), loving

(Muhibbah), memorizing quotes (Mahfudzot), repeating the lesson (Mutollah), midnight

prayer (Qiyam al Lail), Greening, Fasting Monday-Thursday, congregational prayers,

enhancing the recitation of the Qur’an (Tahsinul Qur'an), Thursday routine, weekly English

and Arabic practice, speech training (muhadarah) and memorizing vocabularies (Mufradat).
The model of the hidden curriculum can be seen in the activities of the male students for 24

hours, the activities carried out fully become the students’ responsibility who become

administrators of the Nurul Haramain student Organization (OSNH), but they are still guided

and fostered by their teachers. The impact of the hidden curriculum is evidenced by the

achievements of students outside the Islamic boarding school
