Discuss two examples of companies that have repositioned themselves during the pendemic
1.Air bnb
Air bnb provides services related to vacations, and well known for providing services related to
travelling. The company is well known for the service they provide to their customers in the safe,
reliable and trust worthy services.
When the pandemic was at its peak like every businesses Air bnb also faced business crises and
to control those crises the company had to lay off almost 25% of its employees in May 2020. But
to maintain its business and run it smoothly at that harsh situation the company had to come up
with different strategy to maintain its business, so they repositioned the company as a rental
company for nomadic and urbanites fleeing to less crowded area and adventure looking to avoid
hotels.
The Covid-19 pandemic and work-from-home policies have resulted in a wave of working
professionals who have ditched their apartments for a nomadic lifestyle, bouncing around
different Airbnb’s. This growing lifestyle trend comes at a perfect time for Airbnb.
The brand introduced Airbnb Online Experiences, featuring everything from “Guided
Meditation with Sleepy Sheep” to “Tango by Argentinian Experts.” Airbnb posted a profit for
the third quarter of 2020: when it went public in December, it was the largest I.P.O of the year
and saw its shares more than double .

2.Louis Vuitton
This company is famous for its luxury products, it is the luxury brand with high profit, when
the pandemic compelled every business to shrink and failed to gain their profit, this company
also suffered from the pandemic and it was the first time since 2009 when the market of luxury
goods contracted. The luxury goods industry has been heavily impacted by the Covid-19 crisis
in 2020, falling by 23 percent at current exchange rates to hit EUR217 billion. The drop is the
largest recorded since we have been tracking the industry. The overall luxury market
encompassing both luxury goods and experiences shrunk at a similar pace and now is estimated
at approximately EUR1 trillion.
To handle the situation, the company LV sprung to action early in the pandemic, the company
converted three of its perfume factories to make free hand sanitizer for health care workers and
charities in France. Although it was a temporary repositioning but it was a wise move by the
company to make people realize that how LV act during a time when everyone was suffering
in the pandemic
