1.

The movie used different curriculums that enhanced and developed the knowledge and skills of the
learners so they could become knowledgeable even though they were not in school. Teacher-centered
design was shown in the movie. All knowledge is transferred to the children through their teacher or
father. In a way, all of what their father believes and knows will be the basis of how they acquire
knowledge. In a teacher-centered curriculum, learners must focus on their instructor; they work alone;
the instructor monitors and corrects every student's action; and the instructor evaluates the student's
learning. In the movie, the children must focus on their father in situations where he is giving
instructions, like in the first parts of the movie, when the father instructs the older brother to know how
to hunt animals, and after that, the parents instruct their children to dissect the animal. Also, the
children learn alone according to what their father instructs them to do, just like in the part where they
are instructed to read books and say what they understand. Moreover, the father monitors and corrects
actions, wherein there is a part where one child was hopeless, but the father gave his child a word that
made his child realize his thoughts. On the other side, there is activity-based curriculum, where the
children are exposed to real-life situations to learn, integrated curriculum, where many subjects are
integrated into the learners' learning, and hidden curriculum, wherein the father teaches his child
according to his beliefs and values. In conclusion, I can say that the father used good curriculums
because they were based on the needs of the children, had educational quality, and had administrative
flexibility.

2. In the movie, perenialism, essentialism, progressivism, and reconstructivism were used. Perenialism
was shown in the movie when the children developed their critical thinking skills, their reasoning skills,
and used different books. It was shown that when the children are asked to read books and are asked to
discuss what they understand, or when they are on a trip and are asked to observe, their curiosity and
intellectual capacity are developed by asking questions and understanding the answers. The philosophy
of essentialism was also shown in the movie by instilling in the children essential academic knowledge
and character development. In a situation where students are learning for their physical development
where they exercise in the forest, the father keeps letting his children read and understand while
sharing important thoughts that impact their reason and intellect and also learning how to survive to
learn how to live. Moreover, progressivism also shows up in the movie, where there is a scene where
the father lets his children observe while traveling and lets them learn and understand things. And lastly,
reconstructivism is shown in the last part of the movie, where the father realizes that teaching his
students to be survivalists and critical thinkers is not enough. So the father let his older child learn
formally, not only for his own benefit but also for the benefit of society.

3. I can say that the curriculums used for the attainment of the goals of education as shown in the movie
were effective but not properly thought out. It was effective in a way that they gained a deep
understanding of the different concepts and topics in different aspects. They developed into critical
thinkers and open-minded individuals, and at a very young age, they had more knowledge and higher
vocabularies about some things that they may see or experience. I also say that there is an improper
way of teaching the curriculums because some basic things that the children encounter in a modern
society was they don't know. For me as a future instructor, to make your students learn, let them learn
step by step. Teach the basic ones before the higher ones, because developing the capacity of a learner
needs a process so that they gradually progress and become what you want them to become or what
they want to become.

4. Although I’m not a parent, Captain Fantastic makes me wonder what pieces of myself would I want to
imprint on others? The movie taps into the ideals of religion, community and family, but what’s most
important? That learning is more effective when we have well structured curriculum. We can learn
through everything aroynd us but we can assure the effectiveness of our learning if we have the right
process of progress.
