marks)
A mother is writing a letter to the school principal about mobile phone bullying.
Complete the letter using the correct form of the verbs in brackets.

Dear Mr Yu,

I am writing to you regarding the use of mobile phones at school. I realise that
students
(1) ________ (not / allow) to use their phones in class, but I really believe that they
*(2) _________ (should / ban) in school in general.

Despite the fact that the school (3) _________ (have) strict rules against bullying, it is
awful to see how big a problem mobile phone bullying (4) _________ (become). Not
only
*(5) _________ (my son / see) this happen to other students, but he has also
experienced it himself. He (6) _________ (often / send) hurtful messages by other
students. He
(7) _________ (be) in a particularly negative mood these past few days. When I
asked him what (8) _________ (happen), he (9) ______ (burst) into tears. Last week,
my son fell on some stairs in school. Instead of helping my son, a student laughed at
him, took a photo of him, and sent it to lots of others. Obviously, this sort of
behaviour is completely unacceptable and must be stopped.

It is true that students often need to have mobile phones to communicate with their
parents, but they do not need to use them during school hours. I have no doubt that if
students
(10) _________ (tell) to turn their phones off, they (11) _________ (still / use) them
in secret. Therefore, I highly recommend that all phones are taken away from
students.

As principal, it is important that you take strong action against all forms of bullying. I
hope you (12) _________ (consider) my suggestions seriously.

Do let me know if any further information is needed. Thank you for your attention.

Yours sincerely,
Patricia Wang
