Text formatting in MS Word

a) Open a new MS Word document and type the following text.

Democracy

India is the largest democratic country in the world. Democracy is defined as a government of the people, by the
people and for the people. It is considered the finest form of government in which ever individual participates
consciously and in which the people remain the sovereign power determining their destiny. So, in democracy the
people are the ultimate source of power and its success and failure depend on their intelligence, consciousness and
vigilance.

It is not possible for all the people in a big country like India to participate in the government. This is why they are
required to exercise their franchise and elect their representatives at regular intervals. These representatives from
the parliament legislate and form responsible government.

b) Correct spelling errors, if any, displayed in the given text

c) Save the document as Democracy
d) Change the layout of the page as given below
Make the page size: A4 and Page orientation: Landscape
e) Change the page margins as follows:
Left: 1.25”, Right: 1.25”, Top: 1.5” and Bottom: 1.5”
f) Format the document as follows
Line spacing: 1.25” Font: Book Antiqua, Font size: 12 and Align: Justify
g) Select the heading “Democracy” and format it as given below.
Font color: blue, Style: Bold and size:18 Align: Center Letter case: UPPER
h) Replace the word intelligence with wisdom and underline the heading of the document.

a) Start All Programs  MS Office  MS Word. Type the document.

b) Place cursor on errors. Right click  choose the correct word.
c) Click Office button Save. Give filename as Democracy.
d) Select PageLayout Size A4. Select Page Layout  Orientation Landscape.
e) Select Page Layout Margin Custom Margin  Left : 1.25”, Right : 1.25”, Top: 1.5, Bottom: 1.5
f) Select document. Select Home  Paragraph. Click Dialog box Launcher. Make line spacing as 1.25

Need of Education

1) Load Microsoft Word

2) Type the following text:

Education in the traditional sense means controlling or disciplining the behavior of an individual. The aim of
education should be helping the society get over the weaknesses and superstition. It should be helping the country
be one of the most credible and self dependent countries of the world. Education is the sharpest weapon that can
change the whole world. It has incredible powers. Education helps us to learn about new possibilities and become
a problem solver. When we disseminate knowledge, we also get education and learning from others. The aim of
education should help the society to be autonomous and free from all the evil thoughts. A truly educated mind will
never undergo any evil influences. It should advocate harmony among people of a country. This is why, we say
that the real aim of education should be making people independent thinkers and excellent decision makers.

3) Save your work as “Education” on desktop.

4) Give a suitable title to the paragraph. Bold and underline the title.
5) Replace all occurrences of the word aim with goal.
6) Apply the style Heading 1 to the title.
7) Add a header to the document and write your name with it.
8) Set the magnification to 75%.

Mail Merge in MS Word

Create a PTA executive meeting call letter as the main document and crate 10 records for 10 executive members
using MS Word. Use mail merge facility, in MS Word to create call letters to 5 selected members, among the
executive members.

Ans:- The mail merge process involves the following steps:

 Creating the document for mail merge

 Adding and editing recipients
 Inserting merge fields
 Previewing and finishing mail merge

2. Adding and editing recipients:-

Click Mailings tab on ribbon. Select Recipients under “Start Mail Merge”. Select “Type New List” option.
Add First Name, Address Line1, Address Line 2, City, Pincode. Click new entry to add a recipient. Click OK button to
save. Give a file name and save.

3. Inserting Merged Fields:-

Place the cursor where you want to enter First Name of the recipient
Click Insert Merge Field Click on First_Name to insert First Name. Then Address, City etc

4. Previewing and finishing Mail Merge:-

Click on Preview Results button on preview group of mailings tab. Click on Finish & Merge button. Click on Print
documentsclick OK

Create a worksheet showing half yearly sales report of a company with the following format.

 Start-->Programs-->MS Excel.
 Type the matter. Select ALPHA ELECTRONICS. Select Merge & Center.
 Select Monthly Sales Report. Select Merge & Center.
 Select other cells. Home--> Borders--> All Borders.
 Merge cells as needed.
 In Total Sales column, type the formula "=sum(c3:c8)". Copy the formula to downwards cells.

 Apply different styles and background to it.
 Select each slide and click Animation -- > Custom Animation --> Apply different animations to each content.

Web Browsing

1) Connect to the internet.

2) Use your web browser and your favorite search engine to collect information on computer networks.
Create a word document of the same and save it in a folder
a) Obtain materials from the Internet and prepare a table showing the different types of network
topologies with their advantages and disadvantages.

Ans:-

1) Use dial up connection / broadband connection to connect the internet.

2) Click Mozilla firefox --> Type google.com in address bar. Press enter key.
 Type network topologies in the space for searching. Press enter key.
 Collect pictures, advantages / disadvantages and save it in a folder name networks.
 Insert the pictures in MS Word. Also prepare advantages and disadvantages in a table

ആത്മ വിശ്വാസം ജീവിതവിജയത്തിന്‌പ്രേരണ നല്കുന്ന ഊർജമാണ്. ജനങ്ങൾ ഇഷ്ടപെടുന്നതും
ബഹുമാനിക്കുന്നതും ആത്മവിശ്വാസമുള്ള വ്യക്തികളെയാണ്.ഒരു വ്യക്തിയിൽ അരോഗ്യകരമായ
ആത്മവിശ്വാസം മുളപൊട്ടുന്നത് കൃത്യമായ സ്വയംമതിപ്പിൽ നിന്നാണ് ആത്മവിശ്വാസമുള്ള വ്യക്തി സ്വന്തം
