1: Introduction

library services are fundamental services in academic performance, due to the reason
that people go to the library and get various materials like books and past papers for example
workers teachers, students and pastors go to the library to find material for gaining
knowledge, for pleasure, or to study. Many people prefer using library services due to they
reason that it provides various services like reference services, reprographic services,
Bibliographic services, and cycling services. (Singh and Kaur-2009)

library services are important for students because students use the library for various
purposes like reading books for leisure, for gaining new knowledge, and also student use
library for improving academic performance, for example, many students in CBE Dodoma
spend much time in the library reading academic books and sometimes they spend their time
Reading story books. (Clark-2006)stated that students use the library for various purposes
like opening the door for future opportunities, and also students use the library when
conducting research, so that are the general uses of library services for the students

In academic performance, libraries are very important because Schools that provide
full-time library service tend to have high and good academic performance compared to those
with party time library service. After all, in a full-time library, students spend much time
studying to increase their knowledge compared to a library that provides part-time library
service where students are limited to using library resources (Alaska study 1999-page 41).
For example in CBE doom students that use the library effectively tend to have good
academic performance compared to the students that do not prefer using library services.

students tend to use library services for various purposes because libraries are the
heart of a university in the matter of academic performance. (adult-2002). Due to that reason,
students use the library for various purposes like to get quite an area for studying, to access
electronic resources like computers and free internet connection for searching academic
materials for the Interest of improving academic performance(WIKIPEDIA) also students use
the library with the interest of getting academic books and past papers that could help them to
get more skills and make them competence in answering various examination question that
made them have better academic performance. for so library service is used purposefully by
the students to Improve academic performance.
 1.1 STATEMENT PROBlEM

Usual student prefers spending much of their time getting library service, for the
reason that, library service are the key and important factor for increasing academic
performance, normally student believe that in the library they will get quite a space for
studying, full of materials they prefer to use to become good in academic performance. for
example, that student in CBE Dodoma who use the library service effectively tend to have
good academic performance, because under library service students become more able to
access material like Books and past papers which make them active in academic matter
confined to issue of being competitive ib answering various question .dahlgren(1994)noted
the speech of Mwalimu J.K Nyerere, that library service is the hub and wheel in increasing
students academic performance. It means that the librarian service should support all
academic activities, such as acquisition, circulation control, and serial management to
improve academic performance.

nowadays, many students tend to have an academic performance that is not at the best
level because they don't spend much of their time in the library, due to the reason they see
that library service does not meet their needs due to the reason that there is not enough place
to fit the number of students that need using library service, for example, the many books do
not fit with the current syllabus and also many students fear to use library service because the
librarian does not provide the good service which students expect to get when they go to the
library. This research aims to find strategies to improve libraries for the improvement of
academic performance.

2:LITERATURE REVIEW.

2.1:Conseptualization of library service in academic performance

library service, represent the fundamental service that library user expects to get when
they go to the library, to improve their academic performance. (Jato)2014. explained that
there is a direct relationship between libraries the qualified librarian to bring good academic
performance. Also (Jato)2014 explain that librarian who provides library service have the
role of ensuring that student who use the library get material that fits their interest, for
instance, librarian have to guide user on where they will get material that they want to use for
example books and past paper which will meet the need of students to increase academic
performance.

Library service can improve academic performance When some strategies for
improving library service to avoid and stop challenges faced by library users such as poor
customers care, internet problems, shortage of chairs, security problems, and poor allocation
of library materials like books and past papers. Where research conducted by(SNAl)2018,
come up with various ways to improve library service, improving security service, regulating
the opening hour, and insuring free internet service to the students who use the library
service. Where through that students can do better in their examinations because there can
access library services at any time.

When students will be able to access such services at any time then their academic
performance will be better than those who are not able to access such services. (American
Association of schools library)2009, explained that school library services tend to improve
academic performance because they act as the second classroom. over here students get a free
place for their self-studies and also they get free time to find extra books and past papers to
become competitive in answering various examination Questions thus why their academic
performance is increased

2.2: nature of library and library service

Library; are the place where literary artistical or reference materials like books, past
papers, and manuscript records are kept. Cassette(2011) explains that a library is a
documentation system that involves gathering, organizing, retrieving, and disseminating
recorded information to communicate knowledge to its user .it means that in the library
published, and nonpublished materials and printed and non-printed materials like books and
past papers are kept.

Library services; the fundamental services in the library include good networking service,
security service, professional librarians, and teachers to guide students in self-reading.

observed that the school library guide students reading and searching process as well as helps
students to choose books that fit their interests. It means that the library services provide
essential services to serve library users to access easily the library service.

2.3:Related study.

SNAL(2018): researched the strategies to improve library service and come up with
some of the strategies that library users suggest to be improved and such suggestions present
as security service at 30%, opening hours at 24%, shelf reading at 29%, the bandwidth of
interest 17%.in this study it means that in dedication Library service there is no rarefaction
service to the library users thus why students suggested such strategies so that they can use
library service effective to improve their academic performance.

Also, Lonsdale(2003).conducted a study and comes up with the result that the strong
good library service like strong security service to students and their property, free internet
service and which is usually available, academic sources of material, and good library service
must be improved. This means that those services could lead to higher and strong academic
performance because students will be attracted to library services something which will
enhance them to spend much of their time so that they can get library services.

Jamie and Tariq (2013conducted research and come up with the result that lack of
reading and research-related resources were the major challenge facing the people who use
library services something that made them spend their money to buy that materials that are
not available in the library and that they need for their studies. This means that if some of
them they will fail to buy that material then they will be unable to get that material hence they
will have poor academic performance so to solve such a problem it is better to improve
library service and insure that that important material that is required in the library so that the
academic performance of that student will be improved to the higher level

CFR (2002)conducted research and come up with results. A library that spends money
and time and effort to develop and facilitate training is rewarded with producing quality
personnel who will be capable of great achievement and greater responsibility. This means
that the provision of library service is not a waste of time but is one of the important ways in
preparing people who are skilful in various aspects of life.
