1. What is the importance of soil science in agriculture? (5 marks).


Because by understanding soil qualities and how to manage them for best agricultural
output, forest, range, and wetland management, urban land use, waste disposal and
management, and rehabilitation of severely disturbed areas, such as mines, are all
made possible by soil science.

2. What is soil sampling and why it is important? (5 marks).


The chemical and physical properties of the soil at a particular site can be learned by
soil sample and analysis. This knowledge may be applied to improve plant
development, help with soil-related issues, or assess the extent of pollution for a
remediation strategy.

3. Describe how to prepare composite sample during soil sampling? (5 marks).


You combine all of the soil cores that were obtained from a certain location to create a
composite sample. In other words, the goal is to obtain a sample that accurately depicts
the region being sampled as a whole.
4. What is soil analysis and why is it important? (5 marks)
Your farm will benefit from using soil analysis since it can identify the inputs needed for
productive and cost-effective farming. A thorough soil test will guarantee that the right
amount of fertiliser is applied, meeting the crop's needs while using the nutrients already
present in the soil.
