Around 8:30 a.m. On Friday, January 6, 2023, a police officer at the Vigan Police Station
received an anonymous call from a stranger reporting a stabbing incident at the Divine Word
College of Vigan, Quadrangle. The PNP-SOCO Unit immediately responded to the call. It was
precisely 9:05 a.m. When we arrived at the crime scene, it was the same day and in the same area
as the incident that had been reported, and the weather was cloudy. We, the SOCO Team, saw
the victim at the quadrangle of DWCV, facing north. He has a stab wound in his left stomach.
The knife was discovered at the crime scene. And his belongings were scattered throughout the
crime scene. SOCO Team members offer first aid to the victim and check for vital signs;
unfortunately, the checks come up negative. To secure the crime scene, we erected a cordon
around it, closing off any and all entrances and exits and preventing anyone from leaving who
was not authorized to do so. The preliminary survey was then carried out, which included the
following steps: writing up an observation of the crime scene; using the strip search method;
taking photographs of the crime scene from a distance, a medium distance, and a close distance;
recording the crime scene; tagging and marking evidence; assigning a case number; collecting,
evaluating evidence, measuring, and sketching; and finally, we, the investigators, carried out one
masked raid. But everything is evident. The crime scene was then released. To ensure the
integrity of the chain of custody and that the evidence can be utilized in court, all evidence
acquired will be submitted to the forensic chemist as soon as possible for laboratory testing. The
findings of these tests will be used later in conjunction with the evidence.
