III. STEEPLED Analysis

3.1 Socio-cultural Factors

The Barangay 405 Zone 42 is a quiet and

peaceful place. We can say that the people

living in the barangay don’t experience poverty

or we can say that they are an average people

because most of them have some businesses for

their living and others has a simple and

normal home with some vehicles in front of their

houses. As we notice, the people in the

barangay has a disciplinary act because of the cleanliness of the surroundings. You can see

no gangs and beggars around the place.

3.2 Technological Factors

Barangay 405 Zone 42 is adapting to technological changes. In fact, Barangay 405-Zone

42 has closed-circuit television cameras (CCTV) to each corner of the street for

surveillance purposes. The chairman, the kagawads and tanods monitor the CCTV

through the television inside the barangay hall but they still haven’t installed it yet

because they recently move the barangay hall. According to them, CCTV helps them to

monitor the barangay's security. They also use a megaphone for the announcements and

computers for some paper works of barangay.

3.3 Environmental Factors

Barangay 405-Zone 42 has a flood

indicator that monitors the water level of

the flood in the area. This flood is caused by the

improper garbage disposal. To lessen the area's

problem in garbage disposal that causes the

flood barangay 405-Zone 42 has street sweepers that

clean the streets every morning and sometimes,

they clean the drainage canal. They also place some garbage bin on every corner and

every morning, there is always a garbage truck to collect the household solid wastes.

a carinderia to save money because the food here are

cheap unlike in the canteen of the university, school supplies business are one of the on

demand here as it is one of the basic needs of a student and printing shops are also among

them because of the paper works that needs to have a hard copy.

3.5 Political/Legal Factors

To establish a business here in Barangay 405,

first, you have to pay something. Barangay

405 will give small businesses like food stalls

(cheese sticks stand, shake stand, fish ball

stand) a pay stub or a ticket that required the

small business to pay 20 pesos every day,

while big businesses like sari sari stores,

carinderia and other big businesses are

required to pay 500 pesos for the barangay permit

There are rules and regulations that the Barangay 405 requires the businesses to do.

First, a business or a store should always have their own garbage bins and should

always clean their place. Second, small businesses that have paid 20 pesos to barangay

should close their store at 10pm. And lastly, businesses that are near in school should

not sell cigarettes and alcohol to students that are below 18 years old, the only

businesses that are required to sell cigarettes and alcohol are those that are 100 meters

conduct of the business to avoid any conflicts.
