Innovation Strategy

The determination of objective is very important in innovation strategy. The first

step in the strategy selection process is to determine our winning goal. The planning
process for our innovation strategy is like any other strategy, begins with defining the
objectives. We choose homemade dishwashing tool as our product because we aware that
washing dishes is a common activity in our life. Therefore, there are lots of common
dishwashing problems faced by human such as foggy, white film on glasses; silver is
discolored; pit marks on stainless steel flatware; bits of food left on dishes and others.
Besides, human also faced some physical problems such as the hand turning itchy and
dry after washing the utensils.

In order to solve all these problems, we decided to use sponge, rubber gloves and
a small size container as our homemade dishwashing tool. By wearing gloves, it is not
just a way to avoid contraction of coronavirus, it is also a great way to keep your hands
safe from dish soap. When cleaning the utensils, use dishwashing gloves. This prevents
your hands from coming into close contact with the soap or the remaining food. Apart
from being a great way to protect your skin, wearing gloves is also a hygienic way to do
the dishes. Gloves with inbuilt dish sponges are now also available, to make the process
easier. Make sure you rinse them properly and leave them to dry to maintain proper
hygiene. By using a sponge, we can avoid bringing soap water in contact with our hands
and result in itchy or dry hands. Besides, a small size container is good for holding along
with the sponge. It won’t slip here and there when you are washing the dishes. By using
the container, we can also control how much dish detergent we want to use while
washing the dishes.

The second idea in the innovation strategy is related to the design and the cost of
the material. Before we started making the product, we used paint to demonstrate our
idea. Based on Figure 4.1, we can see there is a combination of sponge, rubber gloves and
a small size container. Based on the sketching, we can imagine how it works and what is
the weakness of the product. Therefore, when we start making our product, we can try to
make some changes on the product in order to produce a perfect product.

In terms of cost, all the materials that we used are very cheap and easy to find. So,
we estimated the price of our product will be around RM5.00. We believe this price is
affordable for all the families and it can help them in reducing the monthly expenses. For
example, if you are washing the dishes by hand or just a sponge, then you must take care
of your hand. Hence, you need to apply a moisturizer a few times a day or whenever you
feel your hands are getting too dry or use hand cream after waking up, and before going
to sleep. Therefore, by using our product, you are able to save down all the conditional
money and end up with the same expectation.

The third idea for the innovation strategy is knowing our market target. Due to the
pandemic of Covid-19, it had led all of us to stay at home, and restricted most things and
activities we took for granted. While most of us had house help to take care of our
household chores, or at least help us with them, the social distancing norms to curb the
spread of COVID-19 have left us struggling with some kitchen stuff, especially in the
process of washing dishes. Therefore, by using the dishwashing tool, we can overcome a
lot of trouble.
