ACTIVITY 2: DESIGN PROCESS

1. SUBMIT YOUR PREVIOUS DESIGN PROJECT:

1.1 FLOOR
PLAN

1.2 FRONT
ELEVATION

2. EXPLAIN /DISCUSS HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DESIGN:

2.1 INTERIOR SPACES AND FLOW (based from floor plan)

I was tasked to design a two-bedroom bungalow for a family of four with a child. This residential has an
open plan layout, by minimizing the use of walls inside the house will maximize the space for active spaces.
my highlight with space planning is to have efficiency and comfortability, Spaces that are related to
each other are close together, making its functionality more effective.

2.2 EXTERIORS: CONCEPT CHARACTER (based from front elevation/facade)

The facade of this house has a Californian bungalow style with a touch of modernity. Most of the
bungalow in California has a bricked column on its porch. I went with a hip roof which provides a better
resilience against wind and precipitation for the house. The house has a fairly wide wall planes and not
too steep sloping roof which represents a sense of balance between the surface are it occupies.

3. WHAT IS THE MOST CHALLENGING PART/S IN THE DESIGN PROCESS

The most challenging part of designing a house would be the laying out of certain spaces. relationship
of spaces is an important aspect inside the house for the long run. Spaces should be properly planned
before being in place. Thinking about how should space co-exist with one another and not having
interference to the traffic flow. Roofing is also a difficult process of designing an irregular floor
layout of the house, especially a hip roof, aligning how a hip should align to the ridges and towards
another hip.
