FEATURE AND PINOUT DESCRIPTIONS ‘A general description of various functionalities and of each Pin is shown below, but for the Pinouts available in each family, please refer to the appropriate section of this Catalogue. Primary and Secondary Side Activaction: ‘The ON/OFF Pins turn the Module On and Off. When both Pins are wired to the appropriate ground or kept disconnected, the Module will be On or Off Remote Sensing: The Remote Sensing Pins (+S and ~S), allow the system designer to accomodate voltage drops in power busses and (O-Ring diodes. The voltage in the Module output must not exceed the maximum output voltage. Power Good: When the PG Pin is pulled up, a high state indicates that voltage regulation has been achieved Input Undervoltage Protection: The latched lockout circuitry turns the Module OFF when the input voltage is below the minimum value. Output Voltage Adjustment: The TRIM Pin allows the user to adjust the output voltage to a predefinite value within +15% of the nominal output voltage. Figure 1 and 2 show the connection diagram for the ST Family of Standard Modules: (A) ifan external resistor (Phigyq)' IS Connected between the TRIM and +S Pins, the output voltage decreases, (soe wiring in Figure 1); (8) if an external resistor (Fy,,)' is connected between the TRIM and -S Pins, the output voltage increases, (see wiring in Figure 2) Connections for SHB Family are inverted: the output voltage increases in the (A) case, while decreases in the (B) case. * For Bupa soa Valitse lor tthe appropri canere fy’ dea sheet 5 DC/DC Power Module Figure 1. Normal operating is restored automatically in a new start-up sequence. ~ Programmable Current Limiting: Protection against an output overioad condition is ensured by internal current-limting circuitry, programmed with an ‘optional resistor (Roc), connected between OC-ADJ and ~S Pins (see Figure 3}. As the output current rises above the programmed current limit or the nominal overcurrent imit, when no external resistor is connected, then the current Control overcames the voltage control and maintains an almost constant output current. When full short-circuit Conditions are applied, the output current variation is sil limited within a very small variance range. ~ Current Sharing: Jn parallel operation, the SH-BUS Pins must be wired together, so that Modules share the output current load, = Output Current Monitor: The CURR-MON Pin provides a monitor signal proportional to the output current. Adjusting overcuront limits, EH modes. + Temperature Warning: When TEMP_WARN Pin is pulled-up, a pre-advice is given, warning that a further increase of about 5°C in the baseplate temperature will cause a power shutdown, + Thermal Shutdown: At about 105°C the unit turn itself OFF. + Synchronization: Multiple Modules can be synchronized at the same clock frequency by wiring toghether the SYNC Pins
