ABSTRACT

Mixing of Single Super Phosphate (SSP) with farmyard manure (FYM) is a simple technique for
optimizing phosphorus (P) availability and then improving the productivity of wheat (Triticum
aestivum L.). The field experiment was conducted at research farm the University of Agriculture
Peshawar during 2020-2021 to evaluate the influence of SSP and FYM on yield and yielding
attributes of wheat. Randomized complete block design with two factorial arrangements was
used in the experiment. Treatments consisted of two factors, Wheat varieties and Integrated use
of FYM+SSP. Wheat genotypes were i.e. Atta Habib and Pirsabak-2013, while integrated use of
FYM+SSP consisted i.e.FYM (%):SSP (%) 0:0(T1), 0:100 (T2), 25:75(T3), 50:50(T4), 75:25(T5)
and 100:0(T6). All the treatments were applied to the varieties at the time of sowing. All other
operational procedures were carried out in letters and spirit during the research. The results
revealed that maximum plant height (92 cm), thousand grain weight (44.51g), spike meter -2
(480.16), grain yield (2554 kg ha-1), harvest index (34.67 %), phosphorous content in grains
(0.35 %) and P content in leaves (0.17 %) were obtained by integrated use of 50:50 (T 4) as
compared to sole application of both treatments or combination other than 50:50 of both. Among
different wheat genotypes verity pirsabak significantly resulted maximum spike meter -2 (462.33),
N content in leaves (1.2 %) and K content in leaves (3.0%) as compared with variety Atta Habib.
It was concluded from the results that FYM along with inorganic P fertilizer at 50:50
combinations could be a promising technique to optimize supply of P from soil, improve
efficiency of inorganic P fertilizers, and also improve wheat yield. For obtaining higher yield and
enhanced P and N contents in grain and leaves, the application of 50:50 SSP and FYM is
recommended under agro climatic condition of Peshawar valley.
