A thesis statement is usually found towards the end of the opening paragraph or

introduction paragraph when writing a paper. It summarizes the primary thesis or assertion of

the essay, research paper, or another piece of writing. It is frequently conveyed in a single

phrase, with the idea being repeated elsewhere if necessary. The report explores thesis

statements and topic sentences in the three focus articles.

In Frankema and Tworek’s article, the authors are immensely deliberate and strategic

in using topic sentences and thesis statements to optimize their communication. It is vital to

note that the emphatic nature of the topic sentences in the individual body paragraphs is

presented in order of significance, complementing the paper’s overall structure. Similar

strategies are profound in the article ‘Monetary policy under climate change’ by Economides

& Xepapadeas (2018). However, it is vital to point out that the thesis statement in the article

is rather too brief and does not comprehensively grant the reader an elaborate awareness of

the entire structure of the paper. A clear and detailed thesis statement immensely optimizes

the clarity and significance. Catenacci (2009), in his article The obesity epidemic presents an

alarming appeal of the surging obesity crisis in the world. While effort is exercised in

developing an insightful thesis statement and subsequent candid topic sentences, there is a

relative absence f chronological organization of points close to their significance. It is often

suitable to commence with robust paragraphs before transiting to weaker points.
