1. Secure a sample of a Students’ Report Card from you Resource Teacher.

2. Study a sample of an unused Students’ Report Card. Observe its content
3. Ask permission from your Resource Teacher for an interview with him/her and with a
group students regarding the new grading system.
A. Interview of Resource Teacher
1. What are the new features of the latest grading system? What things are you required to
do with this new grading system which you were not asked before?
 The 5-point scale, where in 1 is the highest score and 5 is lowest score.
2. Which do you prefer-the old or the new grading system? Why?
 According to her what was being implement by DepEd is what I am going to follow,
but the new grading is very nice.

B. Interview of 5 Students

1. What do you like in the new grading system?

 They said that they like in the new grading system is that it allows them to work hard
on the lesson, since performance task has given the highest percentage we focus on
the performance task but also we focus on written.
2. Do you have any problems with the new grading system? If there is, what?
 No
3. Does the new grading system give you a better picture of your performance? Why or
why not?
 Yes, it helps us to boost our confidence.
4. Which do you prefer- the old or the new grading system? Why?
 We like the new one, because it more on performance task.

C. Review of DepEd Order # 8 s.2015 you may refer to Appendix A

Based on DepEd Order # 8 s.2015 answer the following
1. What are the basis for grading?
 The minimum grade of the student to pass is 60 which is transmuted to 75 in the
report card.
2. How do you compute grades per quarter for Grades 1 to 10 and Grade 11 to 12?
 To compute the quarter grades of the students, learners total raw score divided by
highest possible score multiple by 100% equals the percentage score. In the senior
high, the school year is divided into semester, to compute the first semester, you
need to get the total score of the first and second quarter, after getting the first and
second quarter you need to divide the score on how many subject is included in the
first semester.
3. How do you compute grades at the end of the school year?
 To get the grade for the end of the year you just need to add the score from 1 st
quarter to 4th quarter and divide on how many subjects.
4. What descriptor and grading scale are used in reporting progress of learners?
 This are the descriptor and scale of the grading system, we have outstanding when
the student got 90-100 of the final score, very satisfactory a scale of 85-89,
satisfactory in a scale of 80-84 percent, fairly satisfactory with a scale of 75-79, and
did not meet expectations below 75.
5. What are the bases for learners’ promotion and retention at the end of the school year?
 If the student got the final of 75 in all learning areas, they are promoted to the next
level and if they did not meet the expectation on two classes she/he is allowed to re-
enroll in the subject and if she/he did not meet the expectation in tree or more
subject they are grounded for retention.
6. What is the report on learners’ observed values?
 It was based on the core values of DepEd: Maka-Diyos, Makatao, Makakalikasan at
Makabansa. And student is rate on the 4 marking AO (Always Observed), SO
(Sometimes Observed), RO (Rarely Observe), and NO (not observed)
D. Grade Computation
Show sample computations of a grade.

 Yes, in that way I can ask the teacher about my child’s progress.
4. Any suggestion on how to make Card Distribution more meaningful?
 No more suggestion.

My Analysis
The tasks of assessing student learning and assigning grades should be interconnected
and aligned with your course outcomes. The tasks of assessing student learning and assigning
grades should be interconnected and aligned with your course outcomes. For assessments to
serve their purpose, they must be conscientiously aligned with what students are expected to learn
(learning outcomes). The teaching methods and the assessment are aligned to the learning
activities designed to achieve the learning outcomes.
If assessments are misaligned with learning objectives or instructional strategies, it can
undermine both student motivation and learning. Consider these two scenarios: Your objective is
for students to learn to apply analytical skills, but your assessment measures only factual recall.
Aligning the assessment with the learning outcomes means that students know how their
achievements will be measured. By directly aligning assessment with course learning
outcomes, you can achieve numerous benefits. For example: Students can see clearly what to
focus on, and how to demonstrate their learning during assessment.

My Reflection
Comparing to my learning outcomes in demonstration and learning outcomes of my teacher
observe I can tell that we almost done the same, we both have cognitive, psychomotor and
affective domain in our intended learning outcomes. With this it can help me to improve well,
improve in making my intended learning outcomes. I may have some knowledge of constructing
traditional assessment tools, but still there are some minor errors in constructing question. The
most difficult for me to construct is multiple choice test because you need to consider what are the
good distractors that a student can think deeply. One more thing is that you need to choose
familiar words and phrases and you cannot also choose double negative words. There are lots of
rules to be considered in making a multiple choice test.
For me, authentic assessment and task is not new to me, since my teacher in my previous
school year had given me activities like this, and it made me to be a better person. If I am going to
rate myself from 1 to 5 and 5 is the highest number, maybe we will into 3, I am not really good at
questioning technique. I still need more time to think rising questions. To develop learners in
HOTS I would always as question which develop their higher order thinking skills

Based on what I read on the selection, me and my classmates always share ideas after
taking the exam, we always thought that the question is not what our teacher discuss to us, we
always say that “ asa man to gikan na question, wala man to sa giduscuss” but to think and to
comprehend it is most a situational problem, which it is in the topic, and base on the TOS the
exam is mostly creating, applying, evaluating, metacognition and self-assessment, which teacher
promote higher order thinking to develop it in students mind.

For me, grades very important specially in applying a job, some jobs might be looking for a
report card. And base on what I heard your grades will by the bases of your qualifications. It is one
of the qualifications. To make grades more effective always motivate learners, tell them what to do
to improve their grades, give positive feedbacks to student’s.

My Analysis

The most important personal qualities of a teacher are, first is knowledgeable, a teacher
should be knowledgeable in topic or in any field that she or he is going to teach in the student. It is
very vital for him/her to master it, so that she can teach the student the proper information, what
teacher said is what is accurate. Second is Determined, a teacher show a strong personal
appearance to students, if is confident to finish the lesson, she can make it a strong impact to
leaners, a teacher that is determined is knowledgeable of the topic. And lastly, healthy if the
teacher is healthy she/ he can teach the student properly. I am a person who is determined,
determine in any given situation, especially in a problem, I am determined to finish it. I am healthy
not just physical but mentally. And with that I can be a better someday.

Teacher are Professional not because they have a graduate course, but because they are
in a specific field. They teach students, they impart knowledge and they serve as the role model in
any profession, they have a strong impact to the nation. So they are strong in plans, prepares and
implement school curriculum and responsibility, because this important in the school so they need
to be strong in it. They are weak in updates oneself on educational trends, policies and curricula,
because some of them are too old in service and since we after now in 21 st century we use
technology in all aspects. And they are doubtful in builds support network with parents and
community, because they are not familiar on hoe parents would react in a problem and
communicating in the community needs time and effort.

My Reflection

As I observed I can see many personal characteristic of the teacher I observe, but this two
characteristic has a very strong impact to me, first is humble, this teacher shows me how to act
confidently with full of respect, she is a personal that is confident but not arrogant. And last is
knowledgeable, it is very important that as a teacher you are knowledgeable on the topic, you
need to masters everything so that you can teach properly however there are student who is noisy
and attention seeker still your class discussion won’t be affected.

As a future teacher is should be a teacher with full of responsibility and knowledgeable in

any problem, because we don’t know what would have happened. As a teacher you must be
responsible and be knowledgeable to solve any problems. Not just in that, but also responsible
and knowledgeable of what are going to teach. If the teacher possesses all the characteristics and
competencies, student will be guided and lead their own learning.
