What are the

Top Five Habits
You Need to
Change
1. Spending too much time on
Social Media
Excessive social media use can create a negative, self-
perpetuating cycle:
1. When you feel lonely, depressed, anxious, or stressed,
you use social media more often—as a way to relieve
boredom or feel connected to others.
2. Using social media more often, though, increases
FOMO and feelings of inadequacy, dissatisfaction, and
isolation.
3. In turn, these feelings negatively affect your mood and
worsen symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress.
4. These worsening symptoms cause you to use social
media even more, and so the downward spiral
continues.

2. Watching Unnecessary
Videos/Koreanovelas

The time spent on watching unnecessary

videos like Koreanovelas may be used on
watching educational or upskilliing videos
instead.
3. Lack of Physical Activities

When you have an inactive lifestyle,:

You burn fewer calories. This makes you more likely
to gain weight.
You may lose muscle strength and endurance,
because you are not using your muscles as much
Your bones may get weaker and lose some mineral
content
Your metabolism may be affected, and your body
may have more trouble breaking down fats and
sugars
Your immune system may not work as well
You may have poorer blood circulation
Your body may have more inflammation
You may develop a hormonal imbalance

4. Eating of Unhealthy Foods

Junk food is used to describe food and drinks low

in nutrients (e.g. vitamins, minerals and fibre) and
high in kilojoules, saturated fat, added sugar
and/or added salt. They are also known as
discretionary choices.

Eating junk food on a regular basis can lead to an

increased risk of obesity and chronic diseases like
cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, non-
alcoholic fatty liver disease and some cancers.

5. Procrastination
Procrastination is often confused with laziness, but they are
very different. Procrastination is an active process – you
choose to do something else instead of the task that you
know you should be doing. In contrast, laziness suggests
apathy, inactivity and an unwillingness to act.

Procrastination usually involves ignoring an unpleasant, but

likely more important task, in favor of one that is more
enjoyable or easier.

But giving in to this impulse can have serious consequences.

For example, even minor episodes of procrastination can
make us feel guilty or ashamed. It can lead to reduced
productivity and cause us to miss out on achieving our goals.

If we procrastinate over a long period of time, we can become

demotivated and disillusioned with our work, which can lead
to depression and even job loss, in extreme cases.
