UNILEVER VOLUNTARY RECALL

(Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey. – 10/18/2021) – Unilever United States has issued a voluntary
recall of certain dry shampoo products made before Oct. 2021 due to likely elevated levels of
benzene. Brands affected include Nexxus, Dove, TIGI and Suave. An investigation done by
Unilever found the source to be the products’ propellant. Both Unilever and its propellant
suppliers are working together to combat this matter.

Benzene is a carcinogen that can lead to many types of health threats. A Unilever health
evaluation detected that the benzene levels in the recalled products would not likely cause health
concerns. The voluntary recall was issued out of caution. The dry shampoo products were
distributed throughout the United States. All products were ordered to be removed from the
shelves immediately by retailers. There are currently no consumer health reports relating to this
recall.

A full list of the recalled products with the UPCs can be found here. Consumers are encouraged
to stop using the dry shampoo products immediately. Reimbursements are available for affected
products. Visit UnileverRecall.com to learn how to be reimbursed. Further information on the
issue will be available soon.

UNILEVER VOLUNTARY RECALL UPDATE

(Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey. – 10/20/2021) – Earlier this week, Unilever issued a voluntary
recall of several dry shampoo products after an internal investigation conducted at a
manufacturing site indicated possible levels of benzene in the propellant cans that contain the dry
shampoo. The brands affected by this recall are Nexxus, Dove, TIGI and Suave. Unilever
immediately notified its distributors and retailers to remove the affected products from their
shelves as well as to arrange returns of recalled products.

“After a more thorough investigation, it was determined by officials that the levels of benzene
likely present in the affected dry shampoo brands is not expected to cause any health problems,”
said Unilever United States CEO Alan Jope. “Here at Unilever, we are committed to
manufacturing and producing safe products for our consumers. The recall is a necessary safety
measure made to maintain our top values of a company, and we are committed to the safety of
our consumers and employees,” added Jope.

Benzene is classified as a carcinogen and can potentially cause health issues depending on the
level of exposure. Currently, there are no reported health cases associated with this voluntary
recall. While benzene is not an active ingredient in any Unilever products, it is advised that
consumers stop using affected products and dispose of them appropriately.

Unilever encourages consumers to contact their healthcare provider if they have questions,
concerns, or are experiencing any problems related to the likely level of benzene in these
products. Consumers should also visit UnileverRecall.com or call Unilever U.S. at 899-270-7412
for information on receiving a reimbursement.

company of brands and people. Part of our mission is to build a better world, meaning that we
prioritize protecting public health and safety. Recently through an internal investigation
conducted at a manufacturing site, we have been made aware of possible levels of benzene in the
propellant cans used for dry shampoo. Last week, Unilever U.S. issued an immediate voluntary
recall of the affected products produced before October 2021. The brands affected by this recall
are Nexxus, Dove, TIGI and Suave. After careful analysis and collection of information, we have
determined that this recall issue happened at a wholesale level, occurring at warehouse centers
not under our direct control.

are consistently working to ensure the safety of our customers. Unilever U.S. is responsible for
determining the effectiveness of the recall, and we will verify that all customers have received
notice of this issue and taken appropriate action. After all efforts have been made to remove the
recalled product from the market, Unilever will issue a termination notice for the recall. We are
taking corrective action to prevent this from happening in the future. The safety of customers is
