Thank you class for participating in our activity

today.
B. Lesson Proper

Now, those pictures that I showed to you has

something to do in our lesson today.

Let us define first what is Linear text. ( student will read the definition)
Who would like to read? Linear text refers to traditional text that needs
to be read from beginning to the end. Here, the
reader makes sense of the text according to the
grammatical and syntactic arrangement of the
words.
From the definition of linear text —it needs to be
read from beginning to end and the author of the text
decides the order of the text, or its reading path. It is
generally those texts printed on paper.

What are the examples of Linear text?

The examples are Essay, Letter, Poem, and novels.
An essay is a short formal piece of writing dealing
with a single subject.

A letter is a written, typed, or printed

communication, especially one sent in an envelope
by mail or messenger.

Can you give me an example of a letter?

Ma'am the examples are Excuse letter, application
letter, love letter, resignation letter, etc.
That’s all correct.

A poem is a piece of writing that partakes of the

nature of both speech and song that is nearly always
rhythmical, usually metaphorical.

( students will raise their hands)

How about Nonlinear Texts? Who would like to read
Non-linear Text refers to texts that do not need to
loud and clear?
be read from beginning to the end There are multiple
reading paths. They are determined by the reader.
Typically includes digital texts.

Graphic organizer, Table, Line Graph, Bar Graph,

Based on the definition it typically includes digital Timeline, Pie Charts, and Flowchart are the
texts. What are examples of digital texts? examples of digital texts.

Let us know the uses of these digital texts.

Graphic Organizer it is used to express knowledge,

concepts or thought and the relationships between
them.
Table it summarizes and organizes information
maybe in words or using rows and columns.
Line Graph it used to show patterns or trends.
Bar Graph is used to show comparisons between
variables.
Timeline is used to show a sequence of events.
Flowchart shows sequence of events from start to
finish to document a process.
Pie Charts show visual representations of
information on parts or segments as a proportion,
percentage or fraction of the whole.

Now we are going to learn how to transcode linear

and nonlinear text and vice versa.
Transcoding linear to nonlinear texts and vice versa
is a skill that one has to familiar with. Since it can be
used in our everyday life.

To transcode means to transform something from

one form to another.
( students will raise their hands)
To transcode a linear to nonlinear text follow these 1. Read the text and get the main idea.
simple steps. 2. Extract necessary information for the visual
presentation.
Who would like to read? 3. Remember to use keywords or phrases only.
4. Classify information into categories.
5. Make sure to use the correct nonlinear text to
present the information.

( students will read the texts)

1. Look at the details of the graphic organizer, chart

linear text. Follow these steps. 2. Get only the gist, most important details or
summary of the information.
3. Write what the diagram is about and your
interpretation based on the given information.

That’s all for today , I hope you’ll remember the

difference between Linear and Nonlinear texts.

Let's see if you really understand our discussion for Yes, Ma’am.
this morning.
Are you ready to answer exercise #1?

Are you ready?

That's good to know. Let's start.

graphs to interpret your data.

to pop music while 29% listento indie and rock
music, 15% listen to country music, 13% listen to
