Discussion questions for Mr. Jon Jeambey

1. As you have mentioned in the book that there are two main kinds of freight train
bogie in industry, the rigid frame bogie and the three piece bogie.
1) For 3 piece bogies, due to the bad guidance (centering) performance, is there
compensations are available in the industry to offset the wear of wheel/rail
contact points during curving
2) For self-steering bogie, which one is the most practical in HAL trains? Why?

2. During the curve, How to compensate for uneven forces on both sides of rail, resulting
in different wear and settlement differential?

3. Most HAL freight trains are double-decker, is there a greater risk of overturning
during a curve?
