«Low speed» is for normal mooring operation.
«High speed» is for light line operation only.
3. Control the winch by the manoeuvring lever E, and do so with sensivily. The
manoeuvring valve has three positions:
«Heave», «Neutral» and «Lower». It is stepless variable and spring centered to
«Neutral».
4. Engage the actual drum coupling by pushing the coupling lever, and if necessary,
synchronize the coupling by running the winch slowly. Lock the coupling lever when
in position.
Release the band brake for the engaged rope drum.

the heaving speed, pull the lever more in "Heave" direction.
6. To stop the winch, leave the manoeuvring lever carefully back to spring centred
"Neutral" position.
7. To pay out rope, push the manoeuvring lever slowly in direction "Lower". Increase
the speed by pushing the lever more in "Lower" direction
To stop the winch, see 6.
8 When the operation of the winch is completed, engage the drum brake and
disengage drum coupling.
9. Switch to «stand by» pressure for longer waiting periods to avoid heat generation in
the oil, or stop the pump when the operation is completed.
ge Note!
During pay out observe that the wire is not pulled off the drum
faster than the speed capacity of the winches. In other words, do
not try to over speed the motor. This will cause vacuum in the
motor which will damage the seals.

5.4 Split mooring drum Maritime Pusnes AS
5.4 Split mooring drum
The main feature of a split mooring drum, is to obtain maximum pulling and braking
force, independent of how many layers there are left on the drum. This is obtained by
using the first layer on the drum after having fastened the rope to a pulley.
To obtain the above features, the split drum is divided into two separate parts by means
Of a dividing flange with a slot. Normally the biggest part is used for storage and is
called the STORAGE PART, and the smailest for tensioning called the TENSION
PART.
When used correctly, a split drum permits the operator always to use the first layer
when the ship is moored, independent of how many layers there are left on the storage
part.
Normally, the hoisting load and the brake holding load are specified on the first layer of
adrum.

mooring drum Maritime Pusnes AS
5.4.1 Operation
How to use the split drum.
1. Pay out the rope and fasten the rope to a pulley onshore or on a buoy.
Instead of hauling in immediately, a further 10 m or so of slack is to be paid out.
2. Then start to heave in the slack. Guide the rope manually into the slot the first or
second time the slot comes round.
Wind the remaining slack on to the tension part and make sure there is at least three
tums or more. In this case, there will be no tension transferred through the slot even
when operated at full brake holding load.
3. Some times the rope has to be transferred from the storage part to the tension part
while the rope is under tension.
Use a lever and manual power or a manual- or air driven power block with a hook
fastened to the rope when guiding the rope through the slot.
4. Haul in the rope to desired load and apply the drum brake.
5. Disconnect the drum coupling after the brake is applied to avoid damage to the
hydraulic motor and gear system
eS Note!
Observe that manhandling the rope from the storage part to the
tension part through the split flange can be dangerous.
If the rope tension is too high to enter the tension part, the rope
tension must be reduce

5.5.2, The Auto Handling system
Introduction
This system is based on offshore bow loading without any use of a mooring buoy,
In this case, the loading hose is stowed in a submerged position. All the remaining
loading equipment is installed on the seabed, or kept in a submerged position
A shuttle tanker loading from this system is kept in position by means of a dynamic
positioning system.
The loading hose is equipped with a hose valve and a spooling piece in one end to
which a two-legged wire sling is connected. This wire sling is further shackle-
Connected to a messenger line with a forerunner. The latter is kept in surface position
by means of a floating buoy.
Connection and disconnection of hose and hose valve to the vessel will be done
without any manual handling. (Not using the hose-handling winch.)
Preparations before entering the loading area.
Place the 2 inches forerunner from storage unit (400 SU) on the twin drum traction
winch,
Start the hydraulic power pack with the pressure selector switch in "stand by" mode.
Tur the pressure selector switch to “high/working pressure" position.
Preparation of coupling connection
1. Important: Check that the locking bolts are placed in the cylinder lugs on the
chain stopper before opening the chain stopper. Press the push button for "chain
stopper open”. Check with the indication lamp that the function is performed,
Note: See waming sign on the chain stopper.
In this mode the chain stopper shall remain open during the whole loading operation.
The messenger line will pass through the chain stopper.
2. Check that the indication lamp for bow roller, retractable stowed position is lit, and
that the roller is mechanically locked in that position.
3. Check that the internal valve in the ship coupler is in closed position, and that the
coupler claws are open,
4. Check that the receiver pipe is in complete stowed position.

3. Close the coupler claws, and the connection phase is completed.
4, The actuator cylinders, for actuator Il and | shall now be put in “free wheeling’ mode
by the two separate by-pass valves. See above sketch.
5. Disconnect the traction winch from the gearbox. (Check the indication lamps).
6. Open the crude oil valves. First open the inboard ball valve, then open the intemal
valve in the ship coupling. When opening this valve, the hose valve will automatically
be opened. Both valves are controlled from the main control console.

Ship is now ready for loading, and the operator can, by means of a push-button,
transfer this signal to the telemetry system. As long as this signal is kept steady, the
crude oil can be pumped onboard the tanker,

5.5.3 The SPM Auto system
‘The following procedure describes the operation of the mooring and loading system,
when moored to a loading buoy. This bow loading system is based on the principle that
Connection and disconnection of hose and hose valve can be done without any manual
handling, (not using the hose handing winch). The hose valve is equipped with a
swiveling lifting ring, to which a two-legged wire sling is connected. Shackles to the
Mooring line further connect this.
This system, compared to the earlier systems, has in addition two sets of hydraulically
Operated rollers. The rollers are individually operated by means of control handles from
two separate control consoles -one inside and one outside the bow loading room.
Preparation for mooring/loading.
Before the vessel goes up to the loading buoy, the following must be prepared:
1. Place the 2 inches forerunner from the storage unit (400 SU) on the twin drum
traction winch.
2, Start the hydraulic power pack with the pressure selector switch in “stand by" mode.
3. Tum the pressure selector switch to "high/working pressure" position.

5. Check that the fairlead roller is in outer normal position. Also check that the receiver
Pipe is in absolute inner stowed position. The bow roller retractable shall be in
stowed position - check indication lamp.
6. Important: Check that the locking bolts are placed in the cylinder lugs on the
chain stopper before opening the chain stopper. Press the push button for "chain
