After the Rain

“Failure is an important part of your growth and developing resiliency”.

- Michelle Obama

Lisa, a 12-year-old girl, works as a babysitter to support her family and attend school. Due to financial
constraints, her parents are unable to fund her education. She walks barefoot from her house to school.
She only has one pair of uniforms that she must wash every day in order to wear them the next day. She
went to school without eating, and most of the time she just watched her classmates eat. Despite facing
numerous challenges in life, she is determined to overcome them all by studying hard and believing that
one day she will finally realize her dream.

Resilience is the ability to recover quickly from difficulties or adversity in your life. Resilience has
become a popular concept in both research and clinical practice over the last few decades. It is widely
accepted that resilience involves positive adaptation in the aftermath of a stressful or adverse
experience. It can protect you from various mental health conditions such as depression and anxiety,
and it can also help you deal with difficult and challenging situations.

We will all face problems that are difficult to manage at times. We may also experience failure at
some point. Just like Lisa, we must be determined to achieve our goal, overcome adversity, and have
faith in the Lord that we can stand up for ourselves and achieve our goals. We should not be afraid to
commit mistake or failure because it is part of our growth and develop our ability to cope with life
challenges.
