The first challenge I want to share is in one of the event committee I joined, I was trusted as the head of
the event division. The event consists of two things, workshop and competitions for high school and
university students, with the purpose of introducting and advancing the mathematical and statistical
world to others. The first problem is because there are many other events in my faculty, we have
shortage of commitees member that are willing to registrate themselves, and the second problem is
based on last year event’s evaluation, the registrants for the competition is less than the target. To solve
these problems, I coordinate with the other committee to do more intensive publication for the open
recruitment, as well as doing private approach to potential committee registrants. I also ask them to
emphasize the benefit of being a committee and the purpose of this events, that is very helpful for high
school and university student. Eventually, we could get enough committee and the event could run well.
For the second problem, I initiate the team to give more benefit for registrating themselves in workshop
and competition. Because online course is popular lately among students, I coordinate with the financial
and partnership division to give access to certain online course for the selected registrants, and if we
could get the course discount through partnership with the course provider, it would be better. Finally,
we offer access to the online course and have a partnership with the provider, and got 115% registrants
from the initial target.

In one of the university course group final projects, one of the group member was passive from the
beginning, starting from the topic discussion until the task delegation. I tried to approach him personally
and asked for his opinion towards our discussion so far, and I asked if there is anything wrong or
something that I could help. He said there is nothing and he agreed with the task delegation. Several
days before the deadline, that member hadn’t done his job and made only a little progress. Me and the
other member starting to feel annoyed and warn him about the importance of this final project. But
once again I asked him if he needs any help, and finally he answered that he didn’t understand several
parts of the projects. After that, I tried to help him to understand and do the work, and our fnal project
could finish on time with a good grades.

When comes mid semester exam time (around September this year), had to :

• Learn for exam

• Help other students for exams as well as I am also an assistant lecturer

• Attend certification learning session

• Finish coursework for certification that I have taken

• Internship task

The strategy that I do is made a priority list based on the importance and deadlines, I also negotiate the
deadline for several task that I think is not very important. Then, I made a daiy schedule and to-do list
every day, so my activity is more organized and effectife. Although I have to cut down my leisure time, I
am happy doing this because it is for my own goodness and for my own career building

And the things I want to achieve is

• Successfully learn to work with a brand new environment, people, and culture in Singapore

• Networking and collaborating with them, as I could get more insight and new experiences from
them

• Improve English because I will have the opportunity to use English in my daily activities

• Adapt quickly, finish impactful task given by the employers well, and help my internship
company to achieve their business goal
