Introduction (55 words)

Find a way to interestingly state that your topic is Discrimination in the food industry, and

note any historic or background information that will help the committee understand the

importance of this topic. Tell them, what was it that drove you to select this topic? What has

happened in the past that led you to choose this topic?

Then state why attending the George Brown College (GBC) students should attend the

Discrimination in the food industry. Also state how they will benefit from the Discrimination

in the food industry, workshop. (The why and the how are two different things. Do not mix

them up).

Persuasive Paragraphs (150 words for each. They are only 2 persuasive paragraphs)

Topic sentence 1. This states what you will be discussing in this paragraph, that is, why the

GBC culinary students should attend the workshop. For example: Attending this workshop

will create awareness among the GBC culinary students on the fons et origo (causes) and the

upshots (consequences) of discrimination in the food industry.

Give supporting idea 1. Then give evidence for this idea from articles, journals, websites, etc,

to prove your supporting idea 1.

Give supporting idea 2. Then give evidence for this idea from articles, journals, websites, etc,

to prove your supporting idea 2.

Give concluding statement for persuasive paragraph 1.

Topic sentence 2: This states what you will be discussing in this paragraph 2, that is: how

attending the workshop will be of benefit to the GBC culinary students. For example:

Attending this workshop will benefit GBC Culinary students in their future careers, owing to

the fact that they will be cognizant of the factors that lead to discrimination, and therefore,

how they can contribute to the creation a favourable environment in the food industry for

everyone involved. This way, they can practice their careers in a rectitude manner that they

can be proud of.

Give supporting idea 2. Then give evidence for this idea from articles, journals, websites, etc,

to prove your supporting idea 2.

Give concluding statement for persuasive paragraph 1.

Concluding Paragraph (60 words)

Restate the aim of this proposal, and then in a very short summary, restate the main

arguments you made in this essay.

Thank the committee for taking time to consider your proposal.

Recommend that your topic (The discrimination in the food industry workshop) should be

integrated into the standard program. And perhaps state that this will benefit the culinary

students and the food industry in which specific way.
