The Singer Corporation Sri Lankan established in 1877 with the sale of sewing machines.
The company was incorporated as a limited liability company in 1974 and became a quoted
company in the Colombo Stock Exchange in 1981. Currently Singer PLC is a well-known
subsidiary of Singer Finance (Lanka), Singer Industries (Ceylon), Regnis Lanka, Realty
(Lanka) Ltd, Singer Digital Media (Pvt) Ltd, and Singer Business School (Pvt) Ltd.

Main operations -

Singer PLC engages in the products distribution business. The products include industrial
sewing machines, consumer electronics, household appliances, air conditioners, furniture,
agricultural implements, motorcycles, telephones, and personal computers, and provides
financing through hire purchase and loans. The Company also manufactures furniture, water
pumps, and paddy threshers and assembles motorcycles and two-wheel tractors. Singer PLC
also acts as a bill collecting agent for credit card, telecommunications, and television, water
supply and electricity companies and is also a sub-agent for Western Union Money
Exchange.
